Publisher's Summary

Protect yourself (and maybe indulge in a little payback) with practical instructions from one of the most beloved figures of Wicca and the Neo-Pagan movement.

Hexes, curses, and other unsavory notions - most magical practitioners won’t even discuss them. Why? Because they’d much rather find a positive solution that benefits all concerned. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Occasionally, though, our problems are such that nothing in the positive solution arena will handle them.

It’s time to make a decision to stand tough, be strong, and take definitive action to defend ourselves. And if you‘re ready to do that - if you‘re ready to own that action, and take responsibility for it - then Utterly Wicked is for you.

Jam-packed with more than one hundred rituals, incantations, hexes, and curses, this is the quintessential primer for learning all the magical tricks no one wants to talk about. Do you know the proper way to enter a cemetery? Utterly Wicked tells you how, as well as the proper methods for collecting and using graveyard dirt. Explore the little-known secrets of the 11-inch fashion doll, and see why it‘s become such a valuable magical tool.

Learn how to prepare Hot Foot Powder, Four Thieves Vinegar, Goofer Dust, and other magical components designed to obliterate your toughest problems. Most important, you‘ll find the tools to protect yourself, your family, and your home from ever being bothered with these sorts of difficulties again.

some parts are okay but probably borrowed

Mostly listenable, but some spells are hard to take seriously based off ingredients such as toilet paper, barbie dolls and glitter, gives off an angry basic witch bitch vibe.

Utterly enjoyable book!

I couldn't stop listening. There's lots of humor & personal stories. I loved the unique and interesting content on hexes and how to perform them. It explains how to use ordinary fashion dolls as poppets and how to dispose of them when the spell is finished. It describes different kinds of graveyard dirt and their spell uses. It explains how to collect the dirt & where (head of grave, open grave, etc.) There's lots more. My suggestion is to just get the book. I doubt seriously that you'll be disappointed. However, this definitely does not abide by the Wiccan 3 fold law. If you're looking for an audio spell book that doesn't bore you to tears, this is it! I wish all of her books were on audio. I will be buying them and this one in paperback as well. It's handy to have the spells and ingredient list in printed format.

Plan B

Morrison practices another way to use energy to resolve life's wrongs. The content is at times amusing with a few simple kitchen recipes. The promised pdf is incomplete at only 11 pages total; the first is a cover page and page 2 begins in a mid-sentence. That said, I liked the Audible enough that I'm adding the Kindle version to my library for fast searches on the entire book. Four Stars because it was lacking alternatives for ingredients like alcohol and cemetery dirt-not options for all audiences. But with a little imagination and intuition, you'll find suitable alternatives.

Narrator is trying to sound spooky, & it ruins it.

I listened to the first three hours at normal speed, then ended up bumping it to 1.25, and ultimately 1.50. The way the narrator is reading it makes it sound like a cheap, knock off "bubble, bubble, toil, and trouble" type thing, when this is an incredibly serious subject. The content is interesting, but there is too much time spent babbling about bits she nearly left out, and makes an admission at least once that she's not even tried one of the curses she included. There is some good information in it, but I hesitate to attempt any because I don't trust that the author has actually attempted any of them. I grabbed this book at the recommendation of a friend, but thankfully already know how to write my own curses and hexes. This one is a little too Sanderson Sisters for me. They have their place, but it isn't in non-fiction books.

Valuable Resource

Utterly Wicked: Curses, Hexes & Other Unsavory Notions by Dorothy Morrison is one of the most important books that I own in my library. It's a book that I think every serious witch and magickal practitioner should own, even if you have no interest or desire in casting curses or hexes. In fact, I first learned about this book years ago in a workshop I took about protective and defensive magick. It was recommended reading so that you can identify and understand various forms of curses and hexes. A doctor needs a diagnosis of one's ailments before she can assist a patient and the same is true for malevolent magick. The book is very comprehensive on these subjects.

Utterly Wicked serves as a how-to when it comes to cursing and hexing, as you would expect. However, it also provides tons of information on reversing and curing those conditions when they're done to you or someone else. There's a good balance between teaching offensive and defensive magick throughout its pages. Morrison is well known for her charming and entertaining writing style, and this book, despite its darker subject matter, is no exception.

It's obvious that a lot of the spells and curses provided come from her own experience and need to craft them. For example, there's an automobile curse in the book and she writes that "It's perfect for the guy who seems to love his vehicle more than you!" It's hard to think that with a description like this that the curse wasn't crafted from personal experience and need. Some of her spells are absolutely brilliant. Morrison's Swifting Ritual in the book is one of the most ingenious magickal ideas I've come across and it's highly effective.

Informative

This is a very informative and helpful book. Dorothy handles a wide variety of information to help an individual with almost any problem they might have. And to her credit reminds you throughout to be cautious but not to take any s**t.

An Utterly Wicked book!!

Starts out innocuously enough, then escalates fairly quickly into an outright curse-fest of epic proportions.

IT'S PERFECT!!!

I can't wait to start on my list!!!
