Publisher's Summary

The bodies are found in towns and cities around Puget Sound. The young women who are the victims had nothing in common - except the agony of their final moments. But somebody carefully chose them to stalk, capture, and torture...a depraved killer whose cunning is matched only by the depth of his bloodlust. But the dying has only just begun. And the next victim will be the most shocking of all....

Contains mature themes.

Enjoyable but flawed

I've read other books by this author and thoroughly enjoyed them, so started this series. The story was ok for the most part. I found it predictable though, and the two detectives were ridiculously incompetent. The author doesn't write women's perspective very well, I found that the narrators voice was sometimes almost robotic at times which was distracting.
I will not be continuing in this series.

Ugggg with the narrator

Gruesome story but really kept my attention. Almost couldn’t continue as the narrator is definitely not my favorite. He should work on not over pronouncing simple words like “to” and “the”, etc.

A good story but...

A good story but fairly graphic, will try to read the next book in the series to see if I’ll see it through to the end

Grisly

Trigger warning: extreme violence toward women. I’m not usually bothered by gore, but this was intense.

Don’t waste your credit

I would have returned it, but audible wouldn’t let me. Don’t believe audible’s return guarantee.

Good story but the narrator…

The story was engaging, but the narrator’s too perfect diction and robotic delivery was distracting.

Terrible plot, describes rape, gratuitous pulp fiction

Don’t read this book. It’s just pulp fiction and full of gratuitous scenes that would attract any sexual deviate. It made me wonder if Olson was one himself…

Gripping!

A serial killer is hunting random women but it takes a long time for the police to connect the murders since the women go missing for months before their mutilated bodies are discovered. A small town reporter is looking for her big break and seems to have a connection to the killer. Is everything really as it seems? Well written piece that keeps you engaged in the story. Shocking ending!

Very Dark

This book is not for sensitive people. Something about it must have been good or it wouldn't have been so disturbing.

narrator

overall the narrator was good when reading but his voice for women sounded drag. his women, or reading of the women just seem so petty and fake.

Very Punchable Characters

I’m just going to copy/paste my review on Goodreads:

I’ve never wanted to punch a character in the face like I do Serenity Hutchins. I want to punch Josh Anderson in the mug almost as much but she still deserves it more.

That’s all I got after finishing this. Oye.

Good Book

I really liked the book. The characters are flawed and some parts of the book are graphic. Recommend.

Bloody, Frightening, and Back Heavy

This novel has one of the strongest endings of any book I have ever read! The last 10 chapters are so intense that you can’t stop reading. However the middle part drags and the amount of detail that goes into each of the murders by the cutter is more then disturbing. A frightening read one that I don’t know that I’ll do again but the book did its job and kept me entertained until the very end…
