Victoria Lynn Chamberlain at age two, was abducted by an alien race, the Regulians. At nine, her world literally exploded when the Regulians returned, destroying Earth. She and her aunt were the only survivors thanks to another alien race, the Carinians. Now she's 18, a new graduate from their top medical school, and is ready to claim her life mate, Lucas. The handsome Carinian pilot that saved her all those years...cycles ago.
Major Lucas Matthew Zafar was decorated pilot for the Coalition, who has worked hard for every promotion and earned every decoration, despite his father being High Admiral. Nine cycles ago, he crashed on an alien world and discovered his life mate, a nine-cycle girl with flame-red hair and sparkling, green eyes. She captivates everyone around her with her strength and determination. She is his world or will be once she grows up. When he's injured in an explosion, he discovers that his wait is finally over for Victoria has more than grown up.
Together they discover what it truly means to be life mates. That it is about doing what is best for the other even if it is not the best for you. That you have to do more than just love, you have to trust and be willing to sacrifice the things you never thought you would. Moreover, if you are lucky, and the ancestors are watching over you, you just might get everything you've ever dreamed of.

I adore this series
The Audible version of this book takes me away every time I listen to it. I've listened multiple times! Please, don't stop writing MK Eidem! The combination of love story, scify fantasy, and adventure are tremendous!!

Narrators are shouty.
This book drags in writing, but flows on audio. The overall story is engaging and characters endearing.
The narrators are good, but they are shouty. Meaning that the emotions are all interpreted as shouts. Especially Jennifer Gill. Her choices get on your nerves after a while. I find myself mentally telling Victoria to chill out. Everything is over the top.

Extrememly awkward long pause.
The story itself is extremely engaging and will make you want to listen to it all. There were certain parts of the performance that were awkward, such as the sex scenes.
For me it was the narrators moans, they were embarrassing to be honest. I kind of want to read the story to compare to see if the story is less awkward without a staged moan from a narrator.
One thing that drove me nuts about this book was the extremely long pauses between chapters. I thought my iPod had paused or something went wrong. I kept having to check it, click on and off to see what the hell was happening. That would be my major complaint with the book.
Another thing that's extremely hard to get use to is the full audio. It's very distracting in a lot of ways. I'm a huge fan of full cast audio-books, but this one just wasn't one I'd pick to be one.
Despite all that, its worth listening to. It has a great story line but I wish I had been warned when I started listening about the awkwardness.

Another good Space opera with a few flaws..
Where does Victoria's Challenge rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I like MK Eidem's book. I'm with most here when I say the Tornian's are still my favorite. I think the only thing I've noticed of MK, is that she repeats things she's done in other books. Like the Tornian books those girls love decorating and setting up their houses. In the challenge books all the men are older men, younger woman. I don't mind it but not back to back.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I like William still from the first book. I also like Prince Baric(sp?) for some reason. Some of the things used to cause conflict between the characters came off a bit as contrived.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
I like the narrators. I think the woman who does the girl parts needs to learn how to vary her voice more. They all sound the same. The guy, is a bit wooden but he is a big more varied than his partner. Still these are minor gripes. Their reading together with the added sound effects, really add a lot to the story that take these to a new level of enjoyment for me. When they are in space, the subtle noises in the back ground make you feel like they are in space. I really love that.
Any additional comments?
All in all, you really can't go wrong with one of MK's books. Especially if you enjoy other worlds, alien men, space etc. MK, has become an automatic buy for me.

Listened as an Outsider
Another installment of Cassie and Tori's adventures, full of the F word and ridiculous sex frequency. It was hard to get into the story, as it is written in the present tense, so it sounds like a play is being read aloud. All of that aside, it does have a good story line. I was glad to see Tori grow up, but I'm not going to listen to the third book. Not invested in those characters enough to subject myself to the foul language.

Loved it!!! Please M.K., can I have some more?
I cannot say how much I appreciated and enjoyed this story. I love strong female and male characters, and this story has plenty of both. All intricately woven characters, each with vulnerable, insecurities and the strength to protect while being protected. Love without reservation and hearts of steel. THEY STAND

Victoria & Lucas' Have Their Story
Hooray! Book 2 in audio & done by the same talented narration team that created M.K.'s other audiobooks. Victoria is all grown up - certainly mature beyond her years - and is ready to claim & be claimed by her lifemate, Lucas. They overcome personal obstacles to their happiness, and complete their own mission from the ancestors. It's good to have Cassandra & William still involved, and they all play a part in dealing with an added threat from within the House of Knowledge. Well worth the credit. Recommend Unreservedly.

Some issues with dialog but good
Some of the dialog is very cheesey and can do without the graphic love episodes it is a great concept but the dialog in half the book is really not that great better though than the first book in this series

Questionable repeat performance
The first time I listened to the book, it was fantastic. I love MK's books and I have listened to them all multiple times. They are my go to when I need something to relax with. However, after listening to this twice, I no longer have any patience for Victoria. I can't believe how bratty she is. And the voice of the narrator just comes across as whiny. I also didn't care for the initial conflict between her and Lucas was a bit much for me to handle. During all of those chapters, I just wanted to slap them both. That said, I really do like the story and once she's past the "woe is me" stage, she becomes a little more likable and the story doesn't make me cringe as much. Of all of MKs stories that I have read or listened to, this is my least favorite.

Love the book, but not the narration
I love the book and have read it a few times already. I was hoping that the audiobook would just enhance the book I already love, but it did not. In fact I hated the narration. I thought the sounds that were added like doors opening and ringing from the communications console was a great addition (other audiobooks don't have this), but I still could not get over the people doing the narration. I didn't like the main narrator's voice, it seemed stiff and really no inflection in it and I also hated the woman who did all the female characters voices.
