Marc Thomson is by far the best narrator I have ever listened to!! combined with the high value of production (sound effect, atmosphere...) it has made for an absolute joy to listen to!!

Timothy Zahn has never failed to produce absolute gems. Even in this book I began to feel as though certain parts were dragging on but then it would come together beautifully! tbh I will be endlessly impressed both by the fact in this book that he had so many different angles and yet never missed a beat in addition to his ability to revisit old question left by his other books and the together all of works into a consistent gritty narrative that truly feels as though you're reading about another universe!

10/10 I recommend every book that this duo is involved in!!

This Timothy Zahn novel serves two major purposes: ending the threat of the remnants of the Empire to the New Republic and bringing Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade together. It does so with a relatively complicated set of quest-driven subplotlines, characters undercover & in disguise, and twisty-turny betrayals and counterbetrayals leading to an Empire-engineered Civil War. Zahn's book is plotted intricately and is typically well-paced, but he injects a bit too much technical detail into events like sabotage and tactical space battles.. and his romance is a touch too dramatic. Still, I was thoroughly entertained. The novel is engrossing, but you furthermore need to keep Wookiepedia handy just to keep track of all of the names and references to other names. 'Vision of the Future' is clearly written for Star Wars überfans immersed in the 'Legends' universe and familiar with the continuity.

As to presentation: Marc Thompson provides characteristically excellent narration. His diction, timbre, cadence, pacing, and tone are all pitch-perfect on this project. Unfortunately, a couple of chosen voices for some species are straight-up irritating.. and Random House Audio sound engineers allow reverberations to persist in some segments for some reason. Altogether, the recording falls far short of expected Zahn/Thompson production standards.

In toto, 'Hand of Thrawn' Book II merits 7 stars out of 10. If you're a dedicated follower of the Star Wars(TM) reality, you'll love it: it's loaded with enriching detail & canonical/non-canonical data.. but if you're a casual fan of the series simply looking for some Luke-Leia-Han-Lando action, you could do better.

[Note: One Space Pirate character voice sounds like - I'm not kidding - Mister Krabs from the 'Spongebob Squarepants' cartoon🤣 Thompson is having a blast with the cast of characters in these Zahn offerings]

I wasn't as in love with this dualogy as I was with his original trilogy, until this book tied everything together. and the music use in this book really stood out to me as a benefit where sometimes It can be annoying in others

My only wish is that I started on these books much earlier, but I’m glad I still have a world of star wars legends books to explore.

There performance was excellent as usual from Marc Thompson. Story was gripping and entertaining all the way through. I will admit that part one of this series was slow and disappointing , but after finishing part two it all comes together and makes part one good!
