Publisher's Summary

Anyone who has dealt with a chronic disease has known the sleepless nights, the endless pain, the seemingly pointless doctor visits, and the well-meaning, but sometimes hard-to-face, comments from well-wishers who just don't get it.

In this book, you will find empathy from someone who faces that same struggle, some words of encouragement, and hopefully a place to let your hair down and just relax for a bit, knowing that you're understood and there is no pressure to "get well soon". Who knew that could feel like a challenge?

As we spoonies like to say, "I hope you feel less awful than you did yesterday."

You read my mind!

My message to the author:

Hi Kate!
I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your book, Walking Through Fog. I listened to you tell your story on Audible.
Your clear, simple honesty is fresh air for the reader’s soul. I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Much of what you shared is similar to my own experience with depression, anxiety, and our Lord and Savior.
While the pain of Fibromyalgia is relatively new, only becoming aware of its ability to alter my life 18 months ago, my body has been on “high alert” most of my life.
My biggest challenges in the past were related to 36 years of undiagnosed ADHD, and for the last eight years, trying to understand how to navigate life with that mystery revealed.
The good Lord works in mysterious ways.
Along with my Fibromyalgia diagnosis came Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, a great two for one bargain! M.E. is rarely seen without /CFS, because Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is the label more familiar to the general public and medical community.
One of the blessings of being familiar with depression was knowing it was in remission when my FM and ME became prominent. When my dad suggested that my pain and fatigue troubles might be part of my mental illness, I was able to look him square in the eye and tell him I knew without a doubt it wasn’t “in my head” because my mental state was more stable than any other time in recent years. A true gift from God is being able to refute anyone trying to gaslight me in this way. Included in that gift is my wonderful, supportive husband and my family doctor.
One of the aspects of ADHD is the tendency to over-share.
The more relevant part of my FM&ME experience is having that same clarity you describe, knowing my identity is routed in Jesus. The words God gives us throughout the Bible that tell us we are created for no purpose but His alone. To be in relationship with him, only available through the sacrifice of Christ, because He says we are worthy; and to be in relationship with each other.

I say it like this: “I know who I am, I just don’t know how to be me WITH FM and ME.”
A work in progress, we are.
The last two minutes of your book. Those words. Good, glorious God!Friend, your words are exactly what I need.

Thank you. Thank you for allowing God to work through you. I thank God for you.

In Christ,

K
