Publisher's Summary

This audiobook contains an exclusive afterword from author Bernard Cornwell revealing the historical inspiration for War of the Wolf.

At the fortress of the eagles, three kings will fight....

Uhtred of Bebbanburg has won back his ancestral home, but, threatened from all sides by enemies both old and new, he doesn’t have long to enjoy the victory.

In Mercia, rebellion is in the air as King Edward tries to seize control. In Wessex, rival parties scramble to settle on the identity of the next king. And across the country, invading Norsemen continue their relentless incursion, ever hungry for land.

Uhtred - a legendary warrior, admired and sought as an ally, feared as an enemy - is once again torn between his two heritages. But when he finds himself fighting on what he considers the wrong side, facing one of his most fearsome enemies and cursed by misfortune and tragedy, only the most astute cunning, the greatest loyalty and the most spectacular courage can save him....

The King without a crown... I absolutely love it.

I am raving for more Uhtred, Lord of Bebbanburg the King without the Crown. The most gripping battle between shield wall and fortress rocked me. AND a masterfully executed twist right at the end. Can't wait for the next book.

Another great Uhtred story

Any long time reader of Bernard Cornwell's books know the quality of story they will receive from this book. I found this book brought out a lot more emotion in me then previous stories with some tough moments to listen to. Matt Bates does another stellar job reprising the role of Uhtred.

Good addition to the series

An enjoyable addition to Uthred's continuing story of the birth of England.

A good warm up for the upcomin Netflixs drama.

Continuation of Excellence

First introduced to Bernard Cornwell when I was stuck in a rainstorn in Papua New Guinea. Read the first Sharpes book in a day. Since then I have read every book Cornwell has written - even the romances.
But ......I do think that the Utred series is the best
Love them and always get excited when I see a new one on the horizon.

Thanks Bernard
