Publisher's Summary

I already knew he was a psychopath. But now?

He’s more dangerous than ever.

And I have less than 24 hours to stop him.

After escaping Lengard and finding sanctuary with the Remnants, Alyssa Scott is desperate to save those she left behind - and the rest of the world - from the power-hungry scientist Kendall Vanik. But secrets and lies block her at every turn, and soon Lyss is questioning everything she has ever believed.

When long-lost memories begin to surface and the mysteries of her past continue to grow, Lyss battles to retain her hard-won control. Allies become enemies and enemies become allies, leaving her certain about only two things: when it comes to Speakers, nothing is ever as it seems...and the only person she can trust is herself.

Excellent both books in the series

I loved and I mean seriously loved both books. narration is excellent in both of them I really enjoyed the characters and how everything came together many twist turns and surprises a person has to keep up with the names, once you've mastered that you're well on your way to being absolutely absorbed.

Actually SO good, both books

I am in awe a bit about how exceptional this series actually is. I only put it in my collection because it was included and then was finally prompted to read it when it was scheduled to become not included, but oh my god, this book is beyond captivating. The story is clever enough but the writing - it's one of the best written things I've read. The author is talented af. I really, really loved this series and everything about it. Also amazingly performed!

Engaging story superbly narrated

Better than the fantasy World (Arkanae etc) from the same author - a more mature work but an still action packed and edge of your seat narrative.

While it does have some scary dark bits it is one of the the plus collections better options for the whole family. Listened with daughters age 7 and 9 but adults found it just as engaging.

Finally the narration is outstanding - Tamala Shelton is quite talented and I’ll be looking out for more of her work.

Bit Of A Letdown

This conclusion to Lynette Noni's 'Whisper' Duology is "acceptable". In Book One, Noni set up a straightforward (if a little cartoonish) battle between the "Good Guys" (the rebel 'Remnants') and the "Bad Guys" [the 'Magneto' clone 'Dr. Vanik' and his army of brainwashed superpowered automatons: trying to create a world where "Speakers" - teenagers (mainly) who can make things happen with a spoken word - rule the planet].
Instead, she adds a third Speaker organization and an out-of-the-blue new villain.. also introducing an overly-complicated plot device involving suppressed/implanted memories. The end result is a promising adventure tale spoiled by complexity - yielding something verging on the confusing.

Unfortunately, reader Tamala Shelton contributes to the "downgrade" impression I got from 'Weapon' - with a professional but relatively uninterested performance. Her diction, timbre, cadence, and voice-acting remain commendable.. but she reads with a notable monotone that lacks emotion. It sounds pretty clear at times that Shelton is simply sitting in front of a microphone.. reading a book that's sitting open in front of her.

If you are genuinely entertained by this kind of superpower-flavored story, Brandon Sanderson's 'Reckoners' series does a much better job of it. On the other hand, the books were "Free" - included with my Audible subscription. This series conclusion may disappointingly only rate 5.5 stars out of 10, but it was at least worth the time investment.
Should they ask for a Credit, however, spend it elsewhere.
