Publisher's Summary

This exciting audio drama is based on an immensely popular podcast that has received hundreds of positive reviews and has had over four million downloads - and counting.

For Army Reserve soldier Michael Cross, the world as he knows it ends in an instant. One minute he’s in college, and the next rioters are roaming the highway around him, breaking into cars and literally tearing people apart. This is the day the dead walk. This is the world of We’re Alive.

The first season features 12 chapters packing performances and sound effects that rival movies and prove that modern audio drama is undead and well. Join our survivors as they band together, struggle to fortify a safe haven known as the Tower, and discover that zombies are far from the worst thing in a post apocalyptic Los Angeles, where the rules of human decency no longer apply.

Little food. Little water. Little hope. Who is lucky enough to say "We're Alive"?

What the critics say

We’re Alive is a modern rendition of an old-school medium. Maintaining a style that is both retro and contemporary, the radio drama will give horror fans the campy, kitschy style they like, but it also provides a variety of characters and development to keep general audiences engaged…Despite not being able to see the action, the excitement and intensity is still sustained through score and sound design. In some ways, the lack of visuals to accompany the audio creates more suspense. The narrator controls how much the audience knows, slowly teasing out information. Accompanying the drama are sparse moments of comedic relief…Expressing a keen awareness of the zombie subgenre, many of the jokes come from familiar scenarios and tropes of zombie stories.” (Examiner.com)

If you love the Walking Dead, you’ll love this!

I liked how realistic and well-fitted the music and background sounds were to a well-written script. The characters are diverse and profound, the storylines show the true hustle of survival and the zombie lore stands on its own. Bravo.

Flat out Amazing

One of the best audio dramas I've listened. It hooked my from the start, and has lead me willingingly, and unwillingly through its highs, lows, triumphs and tragedies. The acting is top notch, and the characters 3 dimensional, and believable. These audio dramas are both for their dynamic story telling, and horrible as you listen to your beloved characters suffer and die.

Was different like left 4 dead

This was actually enjoyable for a zombie book which is rare these days I liked the left 4 dead style of infection

Radio Drama great listen

Excellent ensemble cast of characters. Easy to invest in each and pick out your favorites. Root for the good guys and wish harm on their enemies. Great listen, just like the old radio dramas, complete with sound effects.

Great series

We're alive is a great story. It is well narrated by all the different voice actors and well written. The story itself is interesting and full of action. The pace is set very well and very enjoyable to listen too.

I love the sort of “audio play” this has. I wish there was more acted audio books, this is great!

Great!

Great story. Well performed. Only complaint which is the slightest and probably only me. Hard to tell Angel and Micheal's voices apart.

Superb radio drama!

I first listened to this series when it was a podcast and enjoyed it so much I bought the audiobook. I've been listening to radio shows from as far back as the 1930s and as recent as the 1970s CBS Radio Mystery Theatre. Dragnet made its mark by using six sound engineers (instead of the typical four) to really make the sound effects as genuine as possible. More advanced technology and well-known actors allowed CBS to create its great series.

We're Alive blows them all away. Great characters and story, but the amazing sound effects will have you believing you're listening to a Hollywood movie soundtrack.
