Loved the story … not a fan of the narration
The biographical & historical information were fascinating. The writing style beautifully conjuring a bygone age.
Yet to have a biography of an English women from Africa read by an American seems odd to me. The mispronunciation of words (not simply the difference of pronunciation) & stilled reading style jarred.
Overall, worth listening to.

Stunning story well narrated
I could only have done without the glorification of white elephant ivory hunters. Creature of the times but discouraging nevertheless

A delicious book
Ohmygosh... I have done nothing but sell this book as read by Julie Harris to all who will listen. The prose was stunning, the story moved along at a perfect pace. I don't know if I would have liked it as much read in my own voice. I didn't want it to end.

Beautiful book
Lovely insights to growing up in Africa, wildlife, horse training, early aviation, love and the life of a strong independent woman ahead of her time. Highly recommended.

Uneven narration
Surprised to see so many good reviews of Julie Harris' reading. She's frequently turning pages in the middle of sentences, which creates some very awkward pauses and phrasings.
