Story
Young Cally is an apprentice within the most unusual order of sorcerers in the known world: the only one that forbids its members from using their powers to kill. Despite his lowly status, Cally's chosen by the Master of the Order to join a delegation to see their allies the Lannovians. The meeting will be historic: 60 years ago, the Order's enemies attacked them with a host of demons, forcing the Order to trap the monsters inside their own citadel and seal it shut with impenetrable wards. The trick worked so well the Order hasn't been able to get it back open since.

Publisher's Summary
The White Lich has conquered Mallon and smashed all resistance to him. Now, he marches on the north. Within weeks, Narashtovik will fall to his armies. Gask will follow.
And after that, there can be no stopping him.
Dante and Blays have a single hope of victory: the Spear of Stars, the long-lost weapon that may be capable of killing the lich. There's just one problem. Though they've learned the spear is real, they've also learned the nine parts of the weapon are guarded by the gods themselves. And they have no intention of handing over their prize.
Alone in a strange realm, with no friends or allies, and a growing list of enemies, Dante and Blays' task looks doomed.
Yet, they're the last line standing between the lich and the destruction of their whole world.

Still Amazing
Ended kinda quick, but that's my only complaint.
The banter and battle was fantastic.
That old man makes my day.

taking the story to the realm of nine kind l kings gave the opportunity to really make it feel like something from a legend.

ends well
I enjoyed the last 30% of this immensely! the first part felt a little bloated.
great characters and setting as always, with a few less moments of introspective problem solving involving nether techniques than the previous books.

Better than the last two
Audio seems a bit distant at first but it goes away. Didn't love the last two but this one was masterfully done

Great finish
Great finish it was quick paced compared to the last few booms that felt a little slow. Was mildly let down at the end when they left a cliff hanger. I would have liked to see the cycle of Galland end with this book.

Disappointing
It is with a heavy heart that I write this review because I like these heroic characters. That said, I am extremely disappointed that in 6 books (9 if you consider the first 3) that the author refused to tie this up with a bow and move on. Sad... you've dragged it out too long. Move on.

getting a little drawn out
I'll definitely love the characters, especially the two main characters, Dante and blayz. their banter is infectious and I enjoy their adventures. I just find that the storyline is getting a little stale. it's starting to lose a bit of its flow too. I feel like it's just kind of all over the place and there's a bunch of random cultures and magic that get thrown in but not really understood. I've enjoyed the other books and I really want to enjoy this to the end, but I'm just worried that the next books are going to be more of a drag than enticing. Tim, the narrator though is amazing. hopefully the next couple of books start to come together a little bit better and it's not so all over the place
