A ray of light in the darkness!

I listened to this beautifully narrated book while walking through rainforests of the Pacific Northwest. The perfect setting for a thoughtful, informative and wholly human treatise on the world and our place within it. Unlike so many books that chastise humankind for its man-made atrocities, this book calmly and rationally walks us through practical solutions. It attempts to offer a perspective of balance to our existence on this planet in our everyday lives. Through examples and data, this book tries to show how our long term survival is inextricably tied to that of all living things on the planet, and demonstrates clearly that we are capable of living in harmony with all its inhabitants, without relying on guilt as a motivator, but rather love. Love for ourselves as a species and society, and love for this beautiful world we share. I applaud the author’s unapologetic sense of optimism and compassion for the human struggle to do the right thing.
