An amazing story of love and betrayal. The pain and heartbreak 💔 that destroys so much. I didn’t want Sandro to die that really hurt. I wanted the book store to come to fruition since I love books as well. 😊

Storyline, character, narrators….i thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book and have done so multiple times since downloading it.

This was a mafia romance without much of the mafia, but somehow it worked. Instead of focusing on organized crime, this story leaned into the chaos of an ex-mobster trying to build a normal life, and that made it surprisingly entertaining.

I did find this book quite funny, and I honestly wasn’t sure whether some moments were intentionally humorous or if I was just interpreting them that way. Either way, watching an ex-mobster attempt to enjoy civilian life was such a different twist that I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The book started off very strong, and I was quickly invested in the characters' love story. Nero, or Rowan, is incredibly unhinged, and his character was impossible not to watch. Some of the things he did because he genuinely thought they were good ideas had me laughing.

The audiobook definitely elevated this story, and I could listen to Sean Masters grumble about being bored with normal life and having to follow laws any day.

However, after the initial excitement of watching Nero adjust to normal life faded, I found the middle of the story struggled to maintain the same momentum. While the premise was entertaining, there was a noticeable lull between getting to know the characters and reaching the more exciting final portion. It ultimately felt like a cute small-town romance with an unhinged ex-mobster twist. There was enough to keep me interested, but not enough to make me fully invested.

And for that reason, I would leave this book with 3.5 Stars. While I enjoyed the characters and the unique premise, I wasn't fully invested throughout the entire story. Ultimately, Rowan was what made this story work for me. His ridiculous confidence, questionable decisions, and inability to accept a normal life made him impossible not to enjoy, and the audiobook experience made this a fun read. I would probably consider the next book on audio, but I am in no rush to jump into it.

Aiden Snow's narration was the only way I got through this (love his voice). Both the FMC's character and voice were a big challenge for me in this story; very whiney and annoying. The premise of the story is decent enough, but I don't like it enough to invest a credit or $ into the second book.
