They both had been burned, or watched others be burned, in relationships that made them wary. They were both the complete "no relationship" type of person they had stayed away from. Yet, they couldn't deny the sparks between them
The slow burn developed into an easy friendship, and they both respected that. The sparks flew, but they kept them at bay, until they couldn't. Even then, past experiences made Rowan back away instead of surging forward. Jensen had enough bad experiences that caused his retreats at time too. Finally, things seemed to figure out for them, but they were always bumps along the way. Each one, getting handled a little better than the next
Rowan and Jensen did not have an easy time of it, but no relationship worth having ever does, and that made it that much sweeter when things worked out!
