Publisher's Summary
Number-one New York Times best-selling author Susan Elizabeth Phillips returns to her beloved Chicago Stars series with a romance between a Chicago Stars quarterback and one of the world’s greatest opera singers—and a major diva.
“Re-entering the world of the Chicago Stars is like a beloved friend come to call.” (Number-one New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr)
Thaddeus Walker Bowman Owens, the backup quarterback for the Chicago Stars, is a team player, talented sideline coach, occasional male underwear model, and a man with a low tolerance for divas.
Olivia Shore, international opera superstar, is a driven diva with a passion for perfection, a craving for justice, too many secrets—and a monumental grudge against the egotistical, lowbrow jock she’s been stuck with.
It’s Mozart meets Monday Night Football as the temperamental soprano and stubborn jock embark on a nationwide tour promoting a luxury watch brand. Along the way, the combatants will engage in soul-searching and trash talk, backstage drama and, for sure, a quarterback pass. But there’ll also face trouble as threatening letters, haunting photographs, and a series of dangerous encounters complicate their lives. Is it the work of an overzealous fan or something more sinister?
This is the emotional journey of a brilliant woman whose career is everything and a talented man who’ll never be happy with second place. Tender and funny, passionate and insightful, this irresistible romantic adventure proves that anything can happen...when two superstars collide.

Disappointing
I love Susan Elizabeth Phillips and eagerly await her books. This one I found lacklustre and a bit boring. I didn’t feel the narrator was the right fit either.

Ok i guess..
The narrator should have listened to the other Chicago stars books.. Phoebe Ca le bow? Really?! Yikes! I really miss Anna Fields.. no one like her…
The average narration took away from the book and it did not come across as funny and deep like all the other books. I wish I had just read it instead if listening to it.

I MISS ANNA!
Last few books are just not doing it for me and SEP is one of my all time favorite authors. I think part of the problem has been the narrators. And yes, like other people have mentioned.... Cal E Bow! I cringed every time I heard it. Also, what is with some of her books seem to be redone? and new narrator? I'm so glad I already bought them with Anna Fields narrating

Narration Is Awful
I might try to read this story but I couldn’t get through an hour of this book with this narrator. The story might end up okay but just could not do it.

Disappointed that Audible ignores comments
Good story. Loved the opera background and looking forward to Carmen and the Magic Flute in Houston. Miss the dual love stories of books past. It’s “Kale Bow” not “cal e bow”. I wrote the same thing in reviewing Nicole Poole’s narration before. How hard is this? First of all the narrator should have listened to previous books. Second the director/editor/producer should have caught this before publication on Audible. Numerous comments in same vein have been ignored. Does Audible just not care? The dummies will keep buying? Does the author not care? Puzzling since the fix is so easy. This is the 21st century. Record Poole saying “kale bow” and substitute it for “cal e bow” in recordings. My guess it would take an engineer less than 10 minutes. Nicole Poole is coming into her own. It seems we all miss Kate Fielding/Anna Fields but Poole is doing a creditable job for this beloved author.

Disappointing ! I returned it.
I have been a BIG fan of Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ books for years - I have read and re-read almost all of them. But ‘When Stars Collide’ falls flat. Missing are the quirky characters, the laugh-aloud humor and the beautifully detailed descriptions that make her other books such a joy. The opera diva and the football star are one-dimensional and the plot (a sort of mystery) is predictable from the start, I returned this book while there were still five hours of listening to go - I just couldn’t take any more of this disappointing drivel.

Stars' Famous Owner
I was doing fine with this book until the name of the Chicago Stars owner came up. Apparently the narrator didn't bother to check the audio versions of any of the prior Stars books, or verify the pronunciation with the author. If she had, she'd know that in the previous books "Calebow" has only two syllables and a long "a". Disconcerting to hear the aberrant pronunciation repeatedly.

Disappointed
I love SEP books in this series. They were entertaining and funny. It pains me to say that this book fell short. The romance was not there. The opera stuff was too much. The main characters lacked chemistry. Olivia seemed too fickle. Thad was okay. The book had two climaxes. The mystery was all over the place. This book seemed rushed and not well planned out. The ending was lacking.

Better Than Her Last Book
Phillips recaptured some of the "I can't wait to read what happens next" magic that characterized her earlier books focusing on
pro football players. I'm glad she returned to "home territory".
