Publisher's Summary

From playwright, author, and Oscar-nominated actor Jesse Eisenberg, When You Finish Saving the World tells the moving and evocative story of three individuals working to understand each other and themselves: Nathan, a father learning to connect with his newborn son; Rachel, a young college student seeking to find her place in a relationship and in life, before marriage to Nathan; and Ziggy, their son, a teenager hoping to figure out where he came from, and where he’s headed. The shifts between time frames in these characters’ lives span more than a decade and eloquently capture the complexities of growing up, having children, and fitting in.

Eisenberg - the star of The Social Network, The Squid and the Whale, and Zombieland - stars as Nathan; Kaitlin Dever, star of Booksmart and Unbelieveable, is the voice of Rachel; and Finn Wolfhard, star of Stranger Things, plays Ziggy, their son.

Good first part

The first part with Nathan is very good, sometimes funny and also realistic. The second part with Ziggy is more like for teenagers. I was expecting a lot more from the last part with Rachel. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first part.

Nice and fast audiobook

Good story in general, the first and last part are excellent. All 3 narrators were great.

interesting perspectives

I love the stores were told in different perspectives, in different time frames. from a glimpse of each character's life you really feel how a person has changed, or where did they come from, how it has effected their life later on. each story left with more needed to be told as I want to know "how it was ended" but truthfully I also don't think it's possible to understand how each one of them felt in a simple conclusion. not even ourselves understood how our life event has shifted our point of view in life, let alone others.

Interesting story trajectory

The storyline left me wishing for more. Rachel's narrative was lacking cohesiveness to the other two.

Really good!

loved this book, reminded me of "the themis files" by Sylvain Neauvel but instead of giant robots, aliens and science, it was therapy, life and real events... half way through I realized the book was written my "that guy from zombie land" ~ (I'm sure he hates that title but it is better than "that guy that might be a robot writing a audible review") ~ which is a suprise because like ... you're already a actor, and now a writer? maybe I should do something with my life?... anyway great book would recommend!

Thrilled this was my first audio book

I had been resisting audiobooks for years, I was afraid the voice actor(s) would be terrible and ruin the experience for me. But this book outdid it. The voices were so real and expressive, there were even a few sound effects that made everything just amazing.
As for the story, it was amazing as well. I love how we got to hear their 3 different povs in a different timeline, and how most of the problems they have are the same ones the others had at some point in their lives, but just don't see it because they're in their head too much. But at the end, you can see how, throughout time, they process it in their own way.
To be honest, I want to listen to it again, knowing all the details and how they relate I know now

I couldn't finish this

I really couldn't figure out the point of the book and I felt like I was wasting my time as I was learning absolutely nothing from it.
