In In Order to Live, Yeonmi Park shines a light not just into the darkest corners of life in North Korea, describing the deprivation and deception she endured and which millions of North Korean people continue to endure to this day, but also onto her own most painful and difficult memories. She tells with bravery and dignity for the first time the story of how she and her mother were betrayed and sold into sexual slavery in China and forced to suffer terrible psychological and physical hardship before they finally made their way to Seoul, South Korea - and to freedom.

Story
It has been proclaimed many times, but perhaps never more convincingly than now, when every news cycle seems to deliver further confirmation of a world gone mad. Is this the endgame? Author Spencer Klavan is a classicist, with a Ph.D. from Oxford, and a deep understanding of the West. His analysis: The situation is dire. But every crisis we face today, we have faced before. And we can surmount each one. Klavan brings to the West’s defense the insights of Plato, Aristotle, the Bible, and the Founding Fathers to show that in the wisdom of the past lies hope for the future.

Story
The left is waging an all-out battle on the American family, particularly the youngest members. If they can make our children miserable, lead them to question every building block of society, and rebuild their entire concept of reality, then the left and their woke indoctrinators will consider that a victory. But we can't let them win. As concerned parents and American citizens, we have to understand what's truly going on before we can do something about it. Stolen Youth provides an urgent deep dive into issues surrounding the current woke indoctrination happening.

Story
The quest for social justice is a powerful crusade of our time, with an appeal to many different people, for many different reasons. But those who use the same words do not always present the same meanings. Clarifying those meanings is the first step toward finding out what we agree on and disagree on. From there, it is largely a question of what the facts are. Social Justice Fallacies reveals how many things that are thought to be true simply cannot stand up to documented facts, which are often the opposite of what is widely believed.

Story
For all of the West's failings—terrible food, cold weather and questionable politicians with funny hair to name a few—it has its upsides. Konstantin would know. Growing up in the Soviet Union, he experienced first-hand the horrors of a socialist paradise gone wrong, having lived in extreme poverty with little access to even the most basic of necessities. It wasn't until he moved to the UK that Kisin found himself thriving in an open and tolerant society, receiving countless opportunities he would never have had otherwise.

Publisher's Summary
NATIONAL BESTSELLER
The North Korean defector, human rights advocate, and bestselling author of In Order to Live sounds the alarm on the culture wars, identity politics, and authoritarian tendencies tearing America apart.
After defecting from North Korea, Yeonmi Park found liberty and freedom in America. But she also found a chilling crackdown on self-expression and thought that reminded her of the brutal regime she risked her life to escape. When she spoke out about the mass political indoctrination she saw around her in the United States, Park faced censorship and even death threats.
In While Time Remains, Park highlights the dangerous hypocrisies, mob tactics, and authoritarian tendencies that speak in the name of wokeness and social justice. No one is spared in her eye-opening account, including the elites who claim to care for the poor and working classes but turn their backs on anyone who dares to think independently.
Park arrived in America eight years ago with no preconceptions, no political aims, and no partisan agenda. With urgency and unique insight, the bestselling author and human rights activist reminds us of the fragility of freedom, and what we must do to preserve it.

Extremely important information.
The contents of this book is extremely important for young people in western civilization to learn of.
There is a growing interest in Socialism/Communism in the youth and woke culture that is predicated on nothing more than ideology and historical ignorance. It has never worked, and never will.
Please, listen to this book and share it. The fate of our civilization may depend on it.

Half-Baked
I really wanted to like this book because I was very moved by her story and the way she told it in her previous book. Unfortunately, I just don't think she was able to escape the critical thinking deficit of her youth. She frequently insists on boiling down complex issues into binaries, a hallmark of propaganda and not of intellectual pursuit. Ironically, while lambasting the cult of victimhood of leftists, she demonstrates a victimization narrative; while criticizing the suffering machine of leftist ideology, she creates her own suffering by overstating and oversimplifying complex ideas into their propagandist media forms. There are some nuggets of wisdom in here, but it feels like it has a long way to go.

Fantastic book, a must read for all
This book was eye-opening about the sort of depravity currently permitted and perpetuated in North Korea and China. It also details the dangers of undermining the classical liberal values that brought us - the “West” - prosperity.

awesome and emotional
this book gave me so many emotions. I played it while at work and had to take breaks now and than. some chapters made me cry, others proud to be a woman. this woman endured a lot and instead of sitting around feeling bad for herself. made change and continues to do so. that's what real life is all about. I've watched some of her videos on YouTube and recently on one of my fav podcasts as well ( Andrew Schultz)

A Hero America Needs
Why does America need this 5' 2", 80 pounds, North Korean Defector, and why just America?
She embodies the "American Dream" of freedom.
It is so true as I hear whispers of David Goggins of struggles, sufferings, and pains being the greatest teachers. Who would be better to plead the case for that "America Dream" but a woman who lived the opposite. Man, I had to quiet the angry voice in me a lot each time the performer reading Yeonmi's interactions of those who did her wrong and dared insight she didn't know what she was speaking about because she was just a brainwashed immigrant. Perhaps I felt it as an immigrant to Canada, home of Dr. Peterson, the most likely next dictatorship. (As I write this review the Canadian Government under the guise of the College of Psychology seeks to strip him of his license to practice because he said words that hurt some weak minds.) That anger was righteous as it was directed to the ignorance of those who opposed her. I did remind myself she was the one who went through the darkness. Yes, if you read this, you will know how dark and evil her oppressors were, how humans could be, and are still in North Korea.
Why just America? It is the beacon of freedom today still. There is no other country in the world that is sought after to come to live legally and illegally.
Yeonmi Park's voice needs to be heard in every school class.
I want to write so much more, but as a man almost 50, I can say it is emotional since I have a 5' 2" 95 pounds, daughter that I love and could never want her to go through what Yeonmi did. Parts of her story really broke my heart. From the starvation, sex trafficking, rape, the tyrannical fat boy that doesn't deserve to be named, CCP, woke culture, ignorant educators, and more, but especially her father that I identify with in his struggle to provide by any means possible and to his preventable death. It is all so sad.
However, this book is a testiment of never giving up on the pursuit of Yeonmi's dreams and now fighting by educating the world to keep the "American Dream" alive, "While Time Remains."
Thank you to Yeonmi Park. May you go down in history, an American Hero.

An Authentic Voice Reporting the Danger of America
Yeonmi loves what America stands for - freedom and the rule of law. But the left hate and train their children to hate their own country. She comes from North Korea and lived the reality of oppression, starvation and retaliatory incarceration. She sees the same danger gathering on the horizon in America and warns that it will not just go away. All must rise and push back or the left's dream of communism will shatter America.
