Why does our past pain continue to affect our present?

Though many of us can point to patterns of brokenness in our lives, we don’t know why they're there. No matter how hard we work, we can’t seem to outrun the very things that break our hearts. That's because our everyday setbacks are rooted in our unaddressed wounds.

In Why Am I Like This? seminary-trained, licensed trauma therapist Kobe Campbell helps us understand why it’s so hard to break these patterns as she offers us a deeper understanding of how our past shapes our present. With tender wisdom, rare vulnerability, and profound honesty, Kobe reminds each listener that they’re not alone, empowering them to step into healing with evidence-based, faith-filled coping skills and resources.

In Why Am I Like This?, you will:

  • gain an understanding of what trauma and healing really are,
  • explore the roots of your dysfunctional patterns,
  • learn how your trauma shows up in your everyday life, and
  • find trauma-informed, faith-based coping mechanisms to heal your mind and deepen your intimacy with God.

Kobe marries theological insight with therapeutic principles to give listeners the tools and insights needed to begin their journey of restoration.

Reflection questions, checklists, and personal exercises are included in the audiobook companion PDF download.

This Book is a Big Part of my Healing Journey!

At just the right time this book was published. I was wondering why God was allowing me to feel dug up about the past I thought He healed me from. He did. He wanted me to see it through my wholeness and not my brokenness. This book allowed me to better understand my trauma in ways the Freedom and Deliverance Ministry at Church could not. Every chapter addressed an experience trauma or emotion I had and explained what was really going on in my mind when it came to the traumatic episodes of my past. I never really acknowledged the trauma. I self betrayed at every turn. I never understood that ‘little T trauma’ was still TRAUMA. Dr. Kobe Campbell thank you for this book. It restored my soul. I’m definitely going to seek a good Christian Therapist to help me unpack this part of my healing journey. God brought this book to my attention at just the right time I needed it most. I’m going to read this again- hard copy. So you get my money twice and I’m happy to do it! AND thank you for the PDF as well. That was a very kind gesture. You went over and above. God bless you and your family on all sides Dr. Sister Girl!

Grateful

Thank you Kobe. This book has opened me up to letting go of my past. So grateful that I am now realizing that some of my behavioural patterns stems from my childhood trauma. Thank you🙏🏾🫶🏾
