Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The audiobook of Witches Abroad is narrated by Indira Varma (Game of Thrones; Luther; This Way Up). BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

'You can't go around building a better world for people. Only people can build a better world for people. Otherwise, it's just a cage.'

There's power in stories. The Fairy Godmother is good. The servant girl marries the Prince. Everyone lives happily ever after...don't they?

The witches Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlick are travelling to far-distant Genua to stop a wedding and save a kingdom. But how do you fight a happy-ever-after, especially when it comes with glass slippers and a power-hungry Fairy Godmother who has made Destiny an offer it can't refuse?

It's hard to resist a good story, even when the fate of the kingdom depends on it....

Witches Abroad is the third book in the Witches series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order.

The first book in the Discworld series – The Colour of Magic – was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

fairy tale come to life

I really ought to stop listening in the car. These books are too funny. I look like a crazy person driving by myself laughing away.

Hilarious! Can’t get enough of this series.

The performances are just spot on in another gem of a novel by Terry Pratchett. He is truly in a league of his own

Captivating and Hilarious

Indira Varma is by far the most accomplished narrator I’ve ever listened to. She can do so many distinct characters in this story that are interesting and enjoyable to listen to. Recording quality is brilliant! The story itself is hilarious and wonderful to read and Indira’s comedic timing and approach to the text is outstanding!! This is my fav Discworld book so far and I’m going through all the ones in the witches subseries. If you like Hocus Pocus and retellings of fairytales you will love this!!

Best narration since Jim Dale

The witches books leans themselves speeds toy to audiobooks. I had a harder time with the wizard ones, seemed better to have the pages I front to clip back and forth or you get lost. But this prachet series is PERFECT for audio. I’ll be sad when I get through them all :)

Incredible!

This is a fantastic audiobook! Indira’s performances leap out of the speaker and come to life. Her Granny and Magrat are exact how I pictured in my head, and her Nanny comes so close. Her other voices are just lovely. Death and Footnotes are also performed expertly.

My only gripe is the closing credits being a, more or less, epilogue - would have been nice to have the end music come after the “closing credits” chapter rather than before. And admittedly i did use the 1.2x speed as it felt more appropriate to the comedic timing of Pratchett’s writing, but these are minor criticisms of an otherwise incredible audiobook. Great work to the whole team, I’m thrilled about these new audiobooks and cannot wait to listen to the rest that are released thus far— eagerly awaiting the ones to come!

Masterful telling of one of the best of the Discworld books. I can't wait to hear the next one!
