Publisher's Summary

Lt. Mellie Blake is looking forward to beginning her training as a flight nurse. She is not looking forward to writing a letter to a man she’s never met - even if it is anonymous and part of a morale-building program. Lt. Tom MacGilliver, an officer stationed in North Africa, welcomes the idea of an anonymous correspondence - he’s been trying to escape his infamous name for years.

As their letters crisscross the Atlantic, Tom and Mellie develop a unique friendship despite not knowing the other’s true identity. When both are transferred to Algeria, the two are poised to meet face-to-face for the first time. Will they overcome their fears and reveal who they are? Or will their future be held hostage by their pasts?

Combining a flair for romance with excellent research and attention to detail, Sarah Sundin vividly brings to life the perilous challenges of WWII aviation, nursing - and true love.

What the critics say

"I love the nostalgia and drama of the WWII era. No one takes me back there better than Sarah Sundin. With Every Letter is a beautiful love story and has everything you want in a novel: romance, suspense, and characters you care about from the very first page. A marvelous beginning for her new series. I can’t wait to read the next book." (Dan Walsh, award-winning and best-selling author of The Discovery)

unexpectedly religious

Any additional comments?

One thing that struck me was that the main characters are very religious. It is something that comes out in almost all of the narratives. Some may like this aspect, other may not. I think it's prevalent enough that I was surprised it wasn't mentioned in the description.

A Wonderful Story About Having Faith in God!

A lovely story about having faith and trusting God. The story is set during World War ll. Tom is an officer in North Africa and Mellie is a flight nurse. Everyone has heard of Tom because of a decision made by a family member when he was a child, and Mellie faces insecurities that she developed as a child. Both must learn to trust in God and have faith in the plan he has set before them without allowing their past and insecurities to hinder them. This is a must read! Sarah Sundin weaves the love of God and the faith and trust we must have in Him into every book she writes, and her gift for details is wonderful. I am blessed everytime I read a book by Sarah.

great story and wonderful narrator!

I loved this story. It may have gone a tad long but never lost my attention. The narrator was one of the best I've heard. I'm not sure if the military truly allowed so much lovey-dovey stuff, so I chalked that up to fiction and just enjoyed the story. I highly recommend this one.

A love story even a guy cry over

Would you listen to With Every Letter again? Why?

Yes. I experienced every emotion possible with the characters as they struggled and lived. This was one heck of a roller coaster ride that I plan to enjoy again and again.

Mel's many struggles to maintain her faith in the face of major adversity.

Which scene was your favorite?

The dog being a hero as he saves major deconstruction of an airfield to repair a communications cable. I have a dog just like that.

I loved the interweaving of faith and happiness so lacking in stories today. I want to hear more from the author and reader.

Pity Party Protagonist

I generally like sweet, innocent love stories, but good grief! Firstly, the female protagonist (Mellie/Annie) made me want to yank of my hair. Pity party does not even begin to describe her. The worst part is she began to develop and become a stronger woman but completely lapsed after a misunderstanding. UGH! Also, I felt her actions were manipulative, even if out of her so called fear. It doesn't excuse the fact that she hid the "truth" from the male protagonist (Tom/Ernest). I had zero sympathy or empathy for Mellie. What a drag of a character. You would think she would be tough being raised in jungles and with a huge male influence. I could not relate at all. Tom was ok. I neither liked him nor disliked him. I appreciate his honest & straight-forward character though. The only redeeming character I found was Kay. She was ballsy, she called everyone out on their bs (especially Mellie near the end). I whooped for her tenacity. She actually has a story that I wanted to hear and hopefully the author writes Kay as she is in the 3rd installment. But I fear her character may be ruined.
I like the Wings of Glory series so I really hope this series improves drastically!

Enjoyed every minute

This is a historically well researched book and a fantastic love story. It's nice to find a captivating story that is written with Christian values. I'm a busy mom with young kids and haven't read a book in a long time, but with the audio feature I "read" the whole book while exercising. Took a few months, but it was fun to be entertained while working out.

Sadly Disappointed

I love history and was excited about the history of women during WW2. I read the synopsis and it sounded like everything I wanted. However, the synopsis did not represent the story line well nor did the audio sample. While this book DOES TELL the story of women nurses during WW2 it also HEAVILY injects Blble versus throughout the book and basically preaches what the author wants the character to do.

I LOVE BOOKS WITH MORAL values but this was force fed to the point it was a major turn off. I felt like the author, publishing company and Amazon did not represent this book correctly.. The author & publisher failed when they wrote the synopsis & Amazon/Audible when they chose their narration sample. . They could have chosen something with the Bible quotes or "preaching/whining - What should I do Lord?" because there were massive amounts to chose from but they didn't. Misrepresentation or Fraud...which do I choose?

As I said, I love books with moral values, cause and effect and that have a story that I could learn from and this book had those elements BUT the constant Bible quotes with where said quote was in the Bible plus why the reader should heed those quotes made me think I was forced to be at a Fundamentalist Revival & the preacher was working out on Fire and Brimstone. OVERKILL!!!! Sadly, it could have been a great book - but it was OVERKILL with the Bible verses especially since I wasn't expecting it. I trusted the synopsis & sample narration would be an honest representation. IRONIC isn't it?
