Publisher's Summary

In Woke, Titania McGrath demonstrates how everybody can play their part in the pursuit of social justice. As a millennial icon on the forefront of online activism, Titania is uniquely placed to guide her listeners through the often bewildering array of terminology and concepts that constitute 21st-century 'wokeness'. These new ideas often leave the general public bemused, particularly if they don't read the Guardian.

Being woke is actually much easier than people think. As Titania demonstrates, anyone can be an activist. By simply adding a rainbow flag to your Facebook profile, or calling out an elderly person who doesn't understand what 'nonbinary' means, you can change the world for the better. Indeed, social media has now made it possible to show how virtuous you are without having to do anything at all.

Timely and indispensable, Titania's step-by-step guide will help you to become the woke person you need to be in an increasingly progressive world. In a non-patronising manner, Titania will explain why you are wrong about everything and how to become more like her.

Sexist af.

I got about 10 minutes into this and, as a man can confidently say this lady is delusional and has absolutely ZERO respect fort the male species. The material was so disappointing to hear that I will be asking Amazon for a refund.

Lots of laughs

I had heard an interview with the author on the Babylon Bee podcast, and decided to check it out. It did not disappoint!

Intentions but annoying to listen to.

While I agree with the author (Andrew Doyle) regarding the sheer stupidity of entitled pampered woke warriors being so unhelpful to the growing problems in our society, the book is difficult to listen to perhaps because he is so correct in what we hear today. It isn't really funny, but rather gut wrenching sad and depressing. The poems don't add much to the dialogue and for the most part, were skipped over. For many heterodox authors, there is a lot of description of what is wrong but little on what can be done about it. Perhaps it will feel funning in 10 years if western liberal democracies are still around. Or will there be a cultural WWIII.

Hilarious because it's true

A true story disguised as satire. Funniest audio book in a long time. Do not buy if you are easily offended by truth.

An Absolute Masterpiece of Wokeness

Whatever Alice Marshall was paid for reading this masterpiece will never be enough. “Titania” (Doyle) is a true genius and just about every line in this book is shockingly hilarious, but Marshall’s reading transformed it into something ... otherworldly. Titania’s slam poetry is beyond hilarious in print ... but tumbling off Marshall’s tongue it is ... well ... there are no words to express it. You just have to listen, then once you do you will instantly understand why I came up short of enough appropriate adjectives to actually do Alice’s work justice.

I normally listen to audiobooks while out walking. As I was loathe to turn this particular audiobook off I arrived home exhausted and with sore feet after extending my walks well beyond my usual.

And — in case you’re wondering — even here in Japan Titania McGrath is f*cking hilarious.

I can't get thur the second chapter.

Alt left junk. I listened for another view point. very offensive. egotistical crap. Yes there is racism in the world this doesn't help. We all need to be responsible for the world as it is and change it. This book will not help anything just dive people away

Hilariously true!

This book points out everything wrong with the world in a funny and most offensive way. I love it! Everyone should listen to it and see how stupid they sound!

Feeling more diverse already!

If it wasn't for Titania McGrath, I'd be adrift, completely unaware of my privilege. I am now taking steps to atone for the original sin of being white using the knowledge and slam poetry found in this repository of knowledge.

Crushed it

Titania really nailed it. I actually couldn’t finish this book and maybe that means I shouldn’t be reviewing it but whatever. This was too much. Well written, yes. Context was on point for the epidemic that is plaguing our society that is called Wokeness. Gosh, I don’t think Erykah Badu ever thought the term “woke” would grow into this. I understand satire and love a good, dark comedy but as I continued to listen (audio book) the pit in my stomach continued to grow. This is a satire that is all too real and I feel like where we are as a society, is currently rotting us from the inside out. I couldn’t laugh at this knowing this exists. Maybe I’ll wait ten years to re/fully read this book and I really hope ten years from now I can read it and laugh at how crazy we all once were. Shit I hope ten years from now the human species still exists (most of us anyway). For now, it’s a little too overwhelming. Sincerely, snowflake.

The Greatest Book Ever Written

I can't wait to start reading this, but as with the Oscars familiarity is hardly needed to judge and review. Titania (muh Queen!!) has the most intersectional points of anyone, and thus zir's art is by far the best.

Rogan brought me here

I get that this is satire straight out of the Portlandia feminist book store, but it's hard to listen to since it could very easily be real. It sounds like the preamble to all kinds of wildly left wing eventualities. In the future feminists will use this as a how-to handbook.

excellente parodie, ça fait un peu peur

je recommande sans hésiter cette parodie de personnage woke tant elle est drôle et flippante à la fois. un peu long peut-être mais quelques phrases cultes.
