An Instant New York Times Best Seller

A young entrepreneur makes the case that politics has no place in business and sets out a new vision for the future of American capitalism.

There’s a new invisible force at work in our economic and cultural lives. It affects every advertisement we see and every product we buy, from our morning coffee to a new pair of shoes. “Stakeholder capitalism” makes rosy promises of a better, more diverse, environmentally friendly world, but in reality, this ideology, championed by America’s business and political leaders, robs us of our money, our voice, and our identity.

Vivek Ramaswamy is a traitor to his class. He’s founded multibillion-dollar enterprises, led a biotech company as CEO; he became a hedge fund partner in his 20s, trained as a scientist at Harvard and a lawyer at Yale, and grew up the child of immigrants in a small town in Ohio. Now he takes us behind the scenes into corporate boardrooms and five-star conferences, into Ivy League classrooms and secretive nonprofits, to reveal the defining scam of our century.

The modern woke-industrial complex divides us as a people. By mixing morality with consumerism, America’s elites prey on our innermost insecurities about who we really are. They sell us cheap social causes and skin-deep identities to satisfy our hunger for a cause and our search for meaning, at a moment when we as Americans lack both.

This book not only rips back the curtain on the new corporatist agenda, it offers a better way forward. America’s elites may want to sort us into demographic boxes, but we don’t have to stay there. Woke, Inc. begins as a critique of stakeholder capitalism and ends with an exploration of what it means to be an American in 2021 - a journey that begins with cynicism and ends with hope.

What the critics say

“Vivek Ramaswamy provides the single most informative and insightful analysis yet of woke ideology.... Woke, Inc. is indispensable for understanding how America's newest and most consequential cultural dogma is fundamentally transforming virtually every sector of our lives.” (Glenn Greenwald, author of Securing Democracy)

"In this engaging, brilliant book, Vivek Ramaswamy hits the nail on the head: Companies go woke because they get richer from division rather than unity. This book is an essential weapon in the battle to reclaim America's soul." (JD Vance, author of Hillbilly Elegy and founder of Narya Capital)

“A provocative critique, wrapped in a gripping personal story that pulls you in from page one. Vivek Ramaswamy is breakthrough brilliant and arrestingly original. Woke, Inc. is essential reading for anyone who cares about America’s democracy, economy, and future.” (Amy Chua, Yale Law professor and author of Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother and Political Tribes: Group Instinct and the Fate of Nations)

Not What I Thought

When this was purchased, bias suggested it was going to rail against the over reach of The Woke movement. Where any perceived slight or divergence from the movement is to be cancelled. The growing ironic discrimination from being able to speak freely was the content.

To my pleasant surprise, and unsurprisingly, how corporations use this to their benefit to make more money, and misdirect the movement even further.

The system allows all this to change. The system relies on people to enact that change.

Nicely written book, easy to follow the theme, although i may disagree with everything said in it, but loved it as a someone else's perspective.

Unexpectedly great

I was expecting this to be a mindless rant against lefties by some pro-MAGA stereotype and was pleasantly surprised that it is very thoughtful and mixed with personal accounts of a very un-MAGA-stereotype background. I found the writing at the beginning not very engaging but it quickly picked up and he became rather witty. This is a discussion, by a successful businessman and founder, about the people profiting off the spread of "woke" ideology and the ways it can and is being used to profit certain groups over others (for instance, business executives over shareholders). He describes ways that these ideas have been cynically promoted and exploited by the professional managerial class in business, whose careers consist of finding ways to control and personally profit off other people's ideas and hard earned money, and in government, where they gain power and plush secure jobs without ever having to go through the trouble of being elected. Some business founders and politicians jump on the band wagon as well to manipulate their clientele. Media companies use it to corner a demographic to tap for clicks and the associated ad money. Society as a whole suffers. Capitalism (the real thing, not the left wing boogeyman) suffers. and the supposed beneficiaries of "woke" ideology don't really gain anything and are rather dragging down with the rest of us. Must read, even if you are triggered into rage by someone using the word woke in less than glowing terms.

Written like someone who should be president.

This one caught me off guard as I wasn't expecting it to be what it was. A must read in the times we live and possibly in the future if this man becomes the leader we need right now. impressive, heartfelt and open. Read it!

Interesting Read

Author sheds light on how corporations use "politics" as a weapon to distract consumers from what is actually happening behind the stage curtains. While corporations use woke ideologies and virtue signalling as a distraction, they are able to abuse (benefit more from) the system through attaching themselves to social justice causes without actually resolving the real issues that will make a difference. In short - follow the money.
