Publisher's Summary

In the mist-shrouded haze of the past, the world of Azeroth teemed with wondrous creatures of every kind. Mysterious Elves and hardy Dwarves walked among tribes of Man in relative peace and harmony - until the arrival of the demonic army known as the Burning Legion shattered the world's tranquility forever. Now Orcs, Dragons, Goblins, and Trolls all vie for supremacy over the scattered, warring kingdoms - part of a grand, malevolent scheme that will determine the fate of the world of Warcraft.

Slave. Gladiator. Shaman. Warchief. The enigmatic Orc known as Thrall has been all of these. Raised from infancy by cruel human masters who sought to mold him into their perfect pawn, Thrall was driven by both the savagery in his heart and the cunning of his upbringing to pursue a destiny he was only beginning to understand to break his bondage and rediscover the ancient traditions of his people. Now the tumultuous tale of his life's journey - a saga of honor, hatred, and hope - can at last be told....

Needed a different narrator

I love the story of Thrall. The narration is tough to listen to at first but gets better as the story progresses. The orcs needed a deep male voice to portray them but Christie Golden does okay.

felt disappointed

unimmersive narration ruined this story for me. the story itself was good, but the female narrator failed to capture the roughness nature of orcs. Pacing was also a bit weird at some bits.

A shining star anong a brightly lit sky.

It is with great pleasure l recount this to be my Second work by Golden the Third work within the Warcraft Universe, and it is with humility I regard it as the best of that which has graced my ear. Golden paints a picture so vivid that it has become admittedly a happy annoyance that the book becomes hard to put down. Like her name suggests This author's work is to be treasured and I can think of no greater pair of hands nor set of lips to regale my Warchiefs Story.

My favorite warcraft lore

The only issue is the performance. I love her writing but her voice isn't suited to a big tough orc. It's too cute, if she wrote one about Arthas or something I bet she'd knock it out of the park.

Excellent pre-Warcraft3 material

This is a fantastic book by a very talented author and now narrator. People in other reviews have said they don’t like a girl playing the male voices but I believe they are missing the amazing skill Christie Golden has at conveying emotion. She is a great narrator, and I look forward to future audiobooks.

Another great story.

Having always been for the Horde, I love the background stories. Story itself is amazing and beautiful. Only complaint is the reading. Normally when read by the author the true emotions are given, but here I feel she struggled through some of it. Do not let that deter you from this though. The story must be told.

What an amazing experience

Christie wrote a fantastic book, as is all her other installments. The ability to listen to her narrate her own masterpiece is truly special. she understands the characters, understands their plight, so you really feel the passion come out in her words. thank you Christie for this opportunity.
