Publisher's Summary

With nods to Bridget Jones and Pride and Prejudice, a charming #ownvoices queer holiday rom-com debut about a free-spirited social media astrologer who agrees to fake a relationship with an uptight actuary until New Year's Eve—with results not even the stars could predict!

After a disastrous blind date, Darcy Lowell is desperate to stop her well-meaning brother from playing matchmaker ever again. Love—and the inevitable heartbreak—is the last thing she wants. So she fibs and says her latest setup was a success. Darcy doesn't expect her lie to bite her in the ass.

Elle Jones, one of the astrologers behind the popular Twitter account, Oh My Stars, dreams of finding her soul mate. But she knows it is most assuredly not Darcy... a no-nonsense stick-in-the-mud, who is way too analytical, punctual, and skeptical for someone as free-spirited as Elle. When Darcy's brother—and Elle's new business partner—expresses how happy he is that they hit it off, Elle is baffled. Was Darcy on the same date? Because... awkward.

When Darcy begs Elle to play along, she agrees to pretend they're dating to save face. But with a few conditions: Darcy must help Elle navigate her own overbearing family over the holidays and their arrangement expires on New Year's Eve. The last thing they expect is to develop real feelings during a fake relationship.

But maybe opposites can attract when true love is written in the stars?

cute, but predictable

it was really nice to find a Sapphic love story, so I can't complain too much but I found it lacking substance.

the characters were easy to relate to though which was nice .

i tried so hard

(mild spoilers?) i wanted to like this book. the beginning was good, the buildup was cute. but once the characters get together, there is just no substance. i was so bored the entire rest of the book. super predictable, and not even in the good cheesy way. i usually love books like this but this didn’t do it for me. the performances were fine but the story just wasn’t it.

Wonderful if frusterating

It was a ride for sure. Some of the story had been just deliciously frustrating. Like egging on your favourite OTP in a particularly interesting series then having them say, "We can't".
Lauren Sweet did a wonderful job of playing the characters and keeping you listening even during the internal conversations that sometimes lose the edge.
A great novel and well worth the credit/cash it cost. 10/10 will listen again.

Good read!

I really like the narrator you are able to tell different characters in her voice and expressional tones. Cute lesbian rom-com kind of love story. Worth the read and will be getting more books by this author.

i like the main couple. i didn't like the brother, and based on the summary of the next book, he doesn't get any better.

Best Performance, great storyline

The performance was fantastic, dramatic and captivating. The sorry had me melting into the words and the description made me feel like I was in the book seeing each character. I love stories where it tells both sides of the experience, in this case both elle’s and Dorothy’s point of view. Overall there was never a dull moment I was always captivated and engaged
