Power is one of the most misunderstood - and therefore vilified - concepts in our society. Many assume power is predetermined by personality or wealth, or that it’s gained by strong-arming others. You might even write it off as “dirty” and want nothing to do with it. But by staying away from power, you give it up to someone else who may not have your best interest in mind. We must understand and use our power to have impact, and pioneering researchers Julie Battilana and Tiziana Casciaro provide the playbook for doing so in Power, for All.

Story
Most organizations and individuals work in the context of annual goals and plans; a 12-month execution cycle. Instead, The 12 Week Year avoids the pitfalls and low productivity of annualized thinking. This book redefines your "year" to be 12 weeks long. In 12 weeks, there just isn't enough time to get complacent, and urgency increases and intensifies. The 12 Week Year creates focus and clarity on what matters most and a sense of urgency to do it now. In the end more of the important stuff gets done and the impact on results is profound.

On devrait l'appliquer.

Not for me
It wasn’t a bad book, just not really for me. The focus was heavy on work (I’m medically retired), children (I don’t have any) and religion (I’m atheist) so it just was not what I was looking for in self-improvement. Some of it also felt rather self-promoting for their business as well. If you want to hear the words “blessing” and “gratitude” on continuous loop, this might be for you.

A lot of quotes from other books
I liked the overall message of the book, by it kinda got lost in a quote or words of wisdom, followed by what book or speach it came from. if they referenced the quotes at the end of the book it would have been a much smoother read. It was choppy, and hard to keep up with the message. I would have liked just heard what was said without the constant interruptions. The woman with the accent was wonderful with pearls of wisdom. The final chapter of the book tied everything up nicely in a little now. Did get some helpful info from it, but I'll have to listen to is several times to gleen everything. Would recommend it.
