Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction,” eating little and weighing herself five times a day. She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income.

Story
As a young child in North Carolina, Jacob Tobia wasn't the wrong gender, they just had too much of the stuff. Barbies? Yes. Playing with bugs? Absolutely. Getting muddy? Please. Princess dresses? You betcha. Jacob wanted it all, but because they were "a boy", they were told they could only have the masculine half. Acting feminine labelled them "a sissy" and brought social isolation. It took Jacob years to discover that being "a sissy" isn't something to be ashamed of. It's a source of pride.

Publisher's Summary
“This book is hilarious and that bitch made me laugh out loud.”—Chelsea Handler
A chaotically joyous collection of essays from one of the original influencers and the internet's sweetheart, Bretman "The Baddest" Rock.
Hilarious and earnest, this collection of essays, how-tos, and more goes far beyond what we know of Bretman Rock from social media. Who is Bretman Rock Sacayanan behind the screen and how did he become the original superstar influencer and today’s beloved best friend of the internet?
You're That Bitch welcomes you into Bretman Rock's world—from how his childhood in the Philippines, his family, Filipino culture, and being a first-generation immigrant helped shape him into who he is today. Peek into how Bretman became a social media sensation at the precocious age of 14, balancing living a glamorous jet-setting lifestyle on weekends while still serving lunch at his school’s cafeteria, running as a varsity track-star, and making honor roll during the week. With his signature honesty, this is an unfiltered and unprecedented look at what it means to be one of the first digital celebrities and that bitch—from dealing with cancel culture, drama and heartbreak, to what it means to love yourself and your community.
From the funniest and undeniably cutest person on the internet, this is a book for the weirdos and for the bad bitches . . . this book is for you!

One of the best
There are no negative comments to leave. The audible was the right choice to hear Bretman’s funny dialogue and antics. Though I’m sure you would read it in his voice, I still love this bitch.
He goes deep and shares trauma, family and stardom. Love it

Masterpiece for Filipinos living abroad
His views and evolution of thinking throughout his life was extremely relatable to other Filipinos living abroad. Mind you, the family acceptance part isn’t the same for everyone but what he said about public view on gay individuals and how Filipinos have an extreme desire to be lighter skinned hit home so hard.

ilokanos represent
so refreshing to listen to a book written and narrated by bretman himself, a fellow ilokano of the diaspora. it truly makes my heart feel warm. i especially love how he embraces the imperfection in his speaking and grammar, etc. love this "fuck academia" energy. what matters is, did you understand it? did you laugh? were you entertained? yes, yes, yes. love the authenticity. congrats bretman! xo

Inspiring
What I found most interesting is the fact that Bret men at an early age had to grow up quickly. Understand the word isn’t what it seems like. Had to go threw all the trauma. But overall all the obstacles he stayed strong for he’s family showing them it’s okay. Bretman rock truly deserve everything & everyone’s love. I’ll recommend this book to anyone. I would definitely read it again. It’s truly the best !

Authentic and Truly Lovely
Bretman Rock presented himself in the most authentic way through this medium. He mentioned his humble beginnings, his rise to fame, his insecurities, his family history, and other things he’s never mentioned before in his own Bretman-way, of course. He was honest and mentioned all the little details in such an entertaining way. I loved him before, but I love him even more now and this whole experience was like catching up with an old friend ❤️

Amazing, funny, tearjerker story!!! ❤️
I have watched Bretman Rock's videos since high school before he made it super big!!!
Watching him grow his community and as a person, made me feel so proud of him & how he represented all Filipinos/LGBTQIA/Immigrants/Islanders, is truly inspiring!
I feel like listening to him telling his story made feel a bit closer to him~ I highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of Bretman Rock or anyone who wants to listen to raw, vulnerable stories about love, life & journey,
