Learning from others is key in life and for me, it’s added joy that I always learn from many of my former students. A recent post from one of them caught my eye, mainly because I probably needed to apply it to my own life. She posted a very true statement: “Your past mistakes are meant to guide you, not define you. Love yourself a little extra today.” I needed that lesson again and it came at a great time too. I caught a couple of posts from Alan Stein, Jr. (@AlanSteinJr) that got me reflecting on a couple of things. The two posts were: “Define your own success” and “A key to inner peace is figuring out what you truly value and disregarding everything else.” Both of these are connected since we have the control over our own success (and what that definition is) along with what we really value in life. So much of the world wants to define these for us and then make us feel horrible when we don’t do that. Lot’s of reminders for me recently that both of these are up to me. Reading my daily dose of John Maxwell and from a couple of days ago this message was one that I had to share with you. It’s all about the reminder that growth is a choice for all of us. The big thing is that change happens all the time, every day, whether we like it or not and whether we want it to or not. Everyone has to deal with it. Now growth, there is something that we all have a choice about. It’s totally optional. It’s totally up to us to choose to look to grow and get better. It’s something that we can do little things every day that will add up to some major things later in life. The choice is clear for me. How about for you? Thanks for listening.
