  • Encounters x296 - Ghost Stories with Wine Pairings
    Aug 28 2025
In this very special Encounters episode, we take the paranormal party to The Bottle Shop, a local wine store in Beverly MA, to record live among the bottles (and perhaps a few spirits of another kind 👻). With a specially curated wine tasting list designed to pair perfectly with each spooky segment, this episode blends vino and the supernatural for the ultimate haunted happy hour. Stories include: A listener whose recurring nightmare of a severed head floating in a lake suddenly becomes horrifyingly real when they later see the same face staring back at them in an antique mirror. One listener’s life path is altered for the better when she sees her own doppelgänger with a small child, causing her to re-think an unhealthy relationship. Alex, the ‘not haunted’ Bottle Shop owner shares a sleep paralysis haunting of his own. After moving to Gettysburg, one listener needs all the help she can get to calm the ghost soldiers who roam her home each night at 3am. Pour yourself a glass and join us as we uncork a night full of laughs, scares, and spooky-sweet pairing notes you won’t want to miss. Browse The Bottle Shop here. Watch the video version here. • Episode 336 - The Appalachian Trail’s Wapiti Shelter Murders & Haunting
    Aug 24 2025
Hidden deep in the Appalachian Trail’s misty pines, the Wapiti Shelter is more than just a rest stop—it’s a place where true crime meets ghost story. In 1981, hikers Robert “Bob” Mountford Jr. and Laura Susan “Sue” Ramsay were murdered here by a stranger they’d shared dinner with, leaving behind a haunting that hikers still talk about. Fourteen years later, their killer returned, attacking two fishermen in the very same area. They survived a harrowing escape and life threatening injuries. The Wapiti Shelter remains steeped in eerie tales, where every creak of the trees feels like a whisper from the past. Unseen touches, phantom cries, and vanishing figures make the site a chilling reminder that sometimes the scariest thing in the woods is human. Plus, this one is a cryptid sandwich. We start with a horrifying flesh pedestrian photo from a listener, and finish with an Appalachian cryptid listener story. Watch the video version here. Have ghost stories of your own? I’ve only just discovered this podcast within the last 6-8 weeks but I am absolutely HOOKED. The ladies are funny, informative, give interesting opinions, and have introduced me to haunts that I now plan to visit, and topics that I previously knew nothing about. Discussing various experiences and reading listener stories let’s me know that the experiences I’ve personally had are not as uncommon as I thought, and I’m grateful for that!

I’ve tried listening to other podcasts before but this is the first podcast I’ve actually stuck with because I just can’t wait to hear more! Thank you ladies for being so informative and entertaining. I truly feel like I’m hanging out with friends when I’m listening.

See you on the other side!

Ps—hearing Leia during a podcast always brings a smile to my face!

I feel seen!
