Hardly a day passes without Trille and Lena inventing some kind of adventure that often ends in trouble. Vaffelhjerte er en bog om venskabet mellem Theo og Lena. Lena er tynd og har grønne øjne og syv fregner på næsen. Theos farfar plejer at sige, at hun æder som en hest og ligner en cykel. Han bygger en ratkælk, så Tonje kan suse hele vejen ned til fjorden, og han spiller violin så Glimmerdalen fyldes af mirakelmusik, men han har en hemmelighed, der sætter deres venskab på en alvorlig prøve.

Nella minuscola Baia di Martinfranta la vita del giovane Trille e della sua migliore amica Lena scorre al ritmo di avventure sempre nuove.
