Den svenske piloten Thomas Borkman reser inofficiellt på FNs uppdrag till Amazonas för att delta i kampen mot narkotikan - tillsammans med andra utvalda deltar han i nattliga helikopteranfall mot raffinaderier och förråd i djungeln. Till en början går operationen helt enligt planerna. Så förälskar han sig i den vackra Maria och snart inser han att motståndarna i förväg får information om när och var raderna ska äga rum. Lyckas de också avslöja Thomas identitet är hans chanser att överleva minimala.

A Swedish army lieutenant drops dead on a shooting range in the desert. Was it an unfortunate accident - or something more nefarious? Ernst Grip, an agent of the Swedish security police, is sent to the Horn of Africa to find out. Once he’s on the ground, however, he quickly discovers he’s on his own. USA har under stort hemlighetsmakeri lånat ut världens i särklass mest avancerade jaktrobot för flygplan, Amraam till Sverige. Trots ett mycket avancerat säkerhetssystem blir roboten stulen och alla spår pekar mot Ryssland.

Det hela är otroligt pinsamt för den svenska militären och man beslutar att ta in de bästa man har för att lösa problemet; kommandostyrkan Csardas.
