After the events of The Import, Riker finds himself on the wrong side of his former employers, an elite mercenary group called QS-4. To escape with his life, Riker agrees to take on a job even they can’t touch: protecting a wealthy young man with political connections and possible ties to a terrorist organization. Riker quickly finds himself sucked into a world of fast cars, big money, and no consequences. But his client isn’t interested in making his job easy, and a chance encounter with a beautiful heiress makes things even more complicated.

When Matthew Riker returns to Iowa to attend the funeral of his high school wrestling coach, he finds a lot has changed since he last set foot in his hometown. His best friend may be involved in moving drugs, and his cousin is struggling to help at-risk teens. Worst of all, there may be more to his coach's death than the random carjacking the newspapers are reporting. 

Riker has gone up against terrorists, kidnappers, and drug cartels, but the greatest evil he faced in his QS-4 career was a man named Charles Fraction. Now Fraction has resurfaced, and Riker will stop at nothing to take him down. Riker and his small team of allies are on the hunt. Their search for Fraction will take them across the globe. With a man like Fraction, every clue is a potential trap, but Riker has no choice but to continue his pursuit. As long as Fraction is free, everyone in Riker's life is in grave danger. Including the woman he loves.
