CIU Agent Mina Kane has been on undercover assignment for 18 insufferable months trying to box up a sticky-fingered hacker. She’s eager for this op to be finished - not only because the boredom of telework is literally draining the life out of her but because she’s desperate to be rid of the fresh-faced rookie, Agent Adams. Luckily for Mina, her next case is a classified solo. Someone at Total Enhancement Pet Center, where pet owners pay for their furbabies to be pampered, is using their access to attach encrypted data onto animals. Mina’s job is to uncover who it is.

Mina Kane’s next undercover op is of the green thumb variety. Tasked to break into a penthouse at the tip-top of a megascraper and air-meld incriminating data on a hydro-shipping mogul, Mina must first pose as an apt gardener who knows a thing or two about roses. The only problem is the rookie’s along for the ride, and he’s a pro at making everything more difficult than it has to be.

Finding Vincent Kramer, the colonel-in-arms of the French Protectorate, has become a must-do on Mina’s task log, but that’s before she discovers Veritus is planning a deadly vendetta against the city. The killing ring is still operational and finding them takes precedent over locating the colonel. According to the intel, Mina and her team have less than 24 hours to complete the task.

After receiving a pleading request, in a place where she has no jurisdiction, Mina finds her hands are bound in purelock. Things take a turn when she and Agent Adams are assigned to investigate a threatening message received by a vid star.

Agent Mina Kane discovers that her pal, ex-marshal Norm Webb, is missing. It’s unusual for a highly trained agent to disappear into thin air, but that’s exactly what he does. Mina tracks down an old case, a likely candidate who was recently sprung from a box and happens to be a deviant who enjoys cruelty. But waiting the mandatory 48 hours to make this op official might prove too deadly for Norm.

In 2105, getting big things to tumble from the sky is possible. After ex-marshal Webb’s torture at the hands of a Syndicate fixer, it’s time to figure out who was involved and hold them accountable. After a deep confession from Webb, Mina realizes the risk the fixer poses, and authorization comes for her and her team to track him down. The laser fires hot when a Syndicate team searches the fixer’s unit and the colonel-in-arms’ DNA is identified.
