Quail Crossings Series

Tragedy has struck the small town of Knollwood, Texas and Dovie Grant finds herself dealing with the loss of her husband and daughter. Despite her grief, she still must fight to bring her remaining family through the already trying times of The Great Depression. Her father needs help on their struggling farm, Quail Crossings. She isn't thrilled that he's hired a young 18 year old boy who's caring for his three younger siblings.

No one expects Evalyn Brewer to return to Quail Crossings from California married with a child, and that includes Evalyn. She had dreams of Hollywood stardom, not dirty diapers and pigs. But when Robert Smith, a country boy from head to toe, offers her and her daughter a chance at a normal life, reputation intact, Evalyn can't help but accept. Little does Robert know, Evalyn is keeping a huge secret.

World War II is finally over, and Dovie Grant is thrilled that her loved ones are finally coming home. As Dovie's longtime love, Gabe Pearce, and her adoptive son, Elmer Brewer, return home, the family is overjoyed. The happiness of their reunion is cut short when the news that Dovie's son-in-law, Evalyn's husband, Robert, is missing in action. Even with Robert MIA, there is a ray of light when the Brewer's long lost sister, Ellie, arrives in their hometown, Knollwood, TX.

Quail Crossings, settled in the sweeping plains of the Texas panhandle, has always been Alice Brewer's forever place. Having spent her first full year away at college, she has gained a new appreciation for her peaceful home and new friend, Walter. Walter jumps at the chance to work at Quail Crossings when the opportunity presents itself. Not only does Walter want to learn his chosen trade of agriculture, but he also wants to be closer to Alice, who has resisted his romantic advances.

Life is now quiet at Quail Crossings. The Brewer children have all grown up and started families of their own and Dovie Pearce is content. She’s married to a wonderful man, Gabe, and her adoptive daughter, Ellie, is a wonderful companion. But one cold March night, the peace is broken with a midnight knock at the door that ends with the cries of an abandoned baby by sunrise. 

Spies have come to Quail Crossings! At least that’s what Rosie Brewer believes after catching a stranger on Quail Crossings muttering foreign words in the fog. The problem? No one will listen to her! They all think it’s just a figment of her overactive imagination.
