This is a story that honestly could have been told in a quarter of what felt like a very very unnecessarily long audiobook. If you want hot smut, this isn't for you. If you want a heartwrenching tale with well developed, emotive characters, this isn't for you. If you want some supernatural romance, it's not for you either. But if you like long, repetitive pages of long repetitive discussions about what a sub should or shouldn't do, this might be right up your alley. 10hrs in, it's so hard for me to care about either character as the entirety of who they are (esp Axel) revolves around the dom/sub roles. I feel like I'm listening to lawyers reading legislation. I get that understanding what each other wants and making rules is the basis of their relationship but I understood that 20min in. I've now got the recording on 1.5 speed and they're STILL JUST TALKING. ENDLESSLY. Please, I'm begging, let there be some conflict, some rise or fall of the plot line, anything at all but another hour of dry, monosyllabic negotiations proceeding a brief, listless physical act. I'm going to go watch Mr Kristofer and Amp on YouTube to restore my faith in leather daddies and pups.
