She's a shy fiddle player from the city.

He's a small-town cowboy with the reputation of a playboy.

And they'll be working side-by-side, all day every day.

PRESLEY JAMES isn't one for being impulsive. But now she's found herself smack dab in the middle of Randall, Texas. Population 5,549. And to make matters worse, she can't seem to get away from a cowboy whose love of giving her nicknames is testing her patience. A cowboy who is flirty, annoying, and too young for her.

KADE MONTGOMERY has enough on his plate. Between constant fights with his family and a brand new dude ranch to build, he doesn't do relationships. But he does do women, booze, and fun . . . until a certain purple-haired, tattooed city girl walks in and changes everything.

Will Kade and his playboy ways send Presley running for the hills, or will he be able to rope her in?

Contains mature themes.

“Feel whatever you need to feel. Let me take care of you.”

Omg. I loved this one. 🥹

I absolutely adored Kade’s transformation. He reminded me so much of the male equivalent of Nesta - rough around the edges, angry, hurting, and really just needing someone to listen to him instead of trying to fix him.

And Presley was PERFECT for him. She’s older. Been THROUGH it. She doesn’t fawn over Kade like all the other women do, and she makes him actually work for her trust. But once he earns it? Game over for both of them.

The vulnerability these two showed each other was honestly one of my favourite parts. They both have their own struggles, and instead of trying to erase those struggles, they learn how to support each other through them. Learning each other piece by piece as the trust was earned and walls came down.

Derek? 🚮🚮🚮
Ugh. What a gross human.

But the rope play? Hawt. 🥵 a cowboy who knows his way around some rope? Dang.

🎧 Narration:
Grayson and Lucy were fantastic together, too. They brought so much emotion to Kade and Presley, especially during the heavier moments. I also love that Grayson narrates all of Kayla’s books - we love the dedication and loyalty!

Such a beautiful story about grief, healing, vulnerability, and finding someone who makes you feel safe enough to finally let your walls down. And to be yourself, ugly parts and all.
