Alene didn’t start writing until she had exhausted her to-be-read pile during a long bout of bedrest. After bemoaning her fate, her husband suggested she take up writing. She told him that was a ridiculous notion, but when she grew bored rereading the same Jane Austen novels, she began plotting . . . and that was how her first book, An Engagement of Sorts, was born. After becoming a published author, Alene had a conversation with her second grader who hated history (gasp) and especially deplored reading (blasphemy!). She wrote George and the Dragon to cure him of his aversion. Alene grew up in San Diego and loves all things beach and sunshine. After earning degrees in music from the University of Utah and BYU, she started writing to keep the winter-blues at bay. Now back in southern California, she tries to sneak in writing sessions by the pool when she's not playing mom to her six kids.
