Alexandra Hudson is a bestselling author, award-winning journalist, and civic architect who works alongside leaders to build cultures where people flourish across their differences. Her book The Soul of Civility: Timeless Principles to Heal Society and Ourselves has become a handbook for leaders across politics, geography, and vocation: St. Ambrose University built a core course around it, Urbandale, Iowa, made it the community read, and in the Texas Legislature, lawmakers from both parties and both chambers are building a culture of civility inspired by it.

She is the founder of Civic Renaissance, which helps leaders build cultures of flourishing in their communities, workplaces, and public life, and the creator of Storytelling and the Human Condition, a lecture series for The Great Courses. A 2020 Novak Journalism Fellow, she has written for The Wall Street Journal, TIME, USA Today, POLITICO Magazine, and Newsweek, and has appeared on Fox News and CBS News. She has spoken at Stanford, Yale Law School, the Canadian Parliament, and the UK House of Lords, and she earned a master’s degree in public policy from the London School of Economics as a Rotary Scholar.

She lives in Indianapolis with her husband and children in a restored Italian Renaissance–style home, where she hosts the Civic Renaissance Salon. When she isn’t gathering people around her table, she can be found watching classic films, putting a new spin on old recipes, dabbling in watercolor, or reading a Platonic dialogue.
