I’m an author, speaker, blogger, freelance journalist and former editor at Coast and Coast Kids Magazine in Newport Beach, CA. I’m also a mother, wife, quilter, friend, and regular guest on New Life Live radio program. You can find my mission statement, abridged life story and speaking topics on www.heartintraining.com. My work focuses on training our hearts to be authentic and healthy in our relationships, professions, ministries and all other important pursuits in our lives. Out of my own struggles with anxiety and depression, out of my own hurts and bondage to perfectionism, God has taught me that my heart is extremely important to Him. The last decade has been an endeavor to live according to what I love and value, running toward what I want to be like in this life, rather than away from what scares me or what I don’t want to become. My heart-training regimen has included community, prayer, therapy, Twelve-Step recovery, ending toxic relationships, research and study, dancing, sewing, treasure hunting, grieving, making lots of mistakes, laughing about them, writing, blogging, forming incredible friendships, staying married for twenty years, and continuing to risk being my authentic self both personally and professionally. So join me. My first book, All My Friends Have Issues, is about training our hearts through forming authentic, encouraging friendships with other imperfect people. The grace, love and accountability my friends offer me is the BEST tool I have to become a wholehearted woman. I’d love to come speak with you, with the men and women at your church, at your retreats and relationship workshops, in your mother’s groups, in your recovery programs, and to your leadership teams. And this is the message I will bring you, which God in his extreme grace has given to me: Take heart, daughters (and sons). God wants to make your precious heart free.
