Ayis Andreas Caperonis is a brain tumor survivor who was told at thirteen that he would never walk unaided, finish school, or live a normal life. After undergoing experimental surgery with only a thirty percent chance of survival, he defied every medical prediction while battling years of severe clinical depression. He is the author of multiple books, including the memoir Kept: Grace in the Places We Break and several children’s stories. A husband and father of three, Ayis writes with compassion and practicality about fighting depression when it feels impossible. In Staring Down Depression, he shares tools and perspectives drawn from his own experience and the journeys of others, offering readers hope and strategies to keep moving forward even on the darkest days.
