Originally from Seattle, Bailey set sail across the Atlantic in 2002 with her husband and their two small dogs, Colette and Godot. What followed was a life of immersion: intimate, sharply observed short stories drawn from years living in Rome, Paris, Prague, Geneva, Amsterdam, Bucharest, and Malta. Her work captures the thrill, friction, and quiet revelations of throwing yourself into unfamiliar places—and discovering what remains when the familiar falls away.
