Barbara Braseth Johnson (1931-) at age 88 has written her first book, The Back Door People, memories from the houses where I lived. Through the eyes of a young girl who didn't know she was poor, she takes you with her as she moved from house to house in the Depression Era in Mahnomen, Minnesota. This collection of essays is a charming look at a time that was hard yet still full of simple pleasures. Barbara graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1949, Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1953, and from Oregon State University in 1968. She taught high school business education classes in Battle Lake, Crosby-Ironton, Moorhead, and Minnesota Lake, Minnesota, and in Forest City, IA for a total of 34 years. Now a widow, she continues to live in Forest City, IA, where she enjoys gardening, drawing and painting, writing, grandchildren and friends. She would be happy to hear from her readers at barbjohnson104@gmail.com.
