Barbara was born and raised in Somerset, growing up with a love of books, and has written stories, poems and rhymes for as long as she can remember - anything from farce to romance to mystery. Eighteen years spent in a job writing lots of business letters highlighted the fact that Barbara really wanted to be a creative writer. After so long in a job which provided neither challenge nor stimulation, her husband said 'Leave work and become a writer.' After much soul searching, she did. Now Barbara says she has the best job in the world; being there for her family and writing when her children are at school. Just as reading a good book takes her to another world or time, Barbara says writing does too; she can also indulge and incorporate some of her other loves, such as history, music and theatre. Barbara self published Family of Strangers in October 2013 and was thrilled to then be approached by publisher Creativia who were keen to work together. Creativia published the second edition of Family of Strangers on kindle and in paperback and have just published Barbara's second novel, Sunshine Spirit, in the same formats.
