Inspired by a friendship that began in a high school English class, Betsy Polk and Maggie Chotas teamed up in 2003 to create The Mulberry Partners, a consulting practice that helps individuals, teams and organizations figure out how to strengthen collaboration, improve communication, resolve conflict, and achieve goals that stick. After a few years of working together, Betsy and Maggie realized they were gaining great benefits -- from the flexibility it takes to lead work and life on their own terms to the sheer happiness of doing work they enjoyed, together. Betsy and Maggie reached out to 125 other women business partners and learned they were achieving similar advantages. Power through Partnership, Betsy and Maggie's first book celebrates the power that comes from women working together while navigating the road past myths and pitfalls to creating and sustaining healthy partnerships. Betsy, a facilitator, mediator, process designer and board certified coach, received a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and a master's degree in organization development from the American University/NTL program in Washington, D.C. Betsy is an active volunteer and board member for several educationally-focused organizations. When she's not coaching, consulting or writing about partnership, you can find her painting with vivid colors, reading novels that take her far away, scribbling short stories and 6 word memoirs or hanging out with her never-a-dull-moment family in Chapel Hill, N.C.
