Hi, I’m Bruno and I’m a Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Mandarin Chinese) in my fifteenth year as a qualified professional. I have worked mainly in South London in mixed state comprehensive schools, and recently moved up to Nottinghamshire. I’ve been a Head of Department for eight years now, and at my previous school I was also a Lead Practitioner for Middle Leaders. I currently line manage Performing and Visual Arts as well as Modern Foreign Languages. I truly enjoy working in education, making a difference and inspiring students, as well as supporting other members of staff. Through my various roles I have mentored, coached and guided hundreds of teachers and middle leaders and watched them develop and succeed as professionals. This is extremely gratifying and is certainly one of the aspects of the job that I enjoy the most. Similarly, I’ve been pleased with my examination results throughout the years which have been above national averages both in terms of attainment and progress, particularly because they directly translate into further future opportunities for the pupils I teach. Their successes and achievements are paramount. In 2015, the Good Schools Guide awarded me a certificate for ‘Excellent performance by Girls taking AS Spanish at an English Comprehensive School’. In certain academic years, my GCSE results have been ranked in the top 1% and 3% nationally. A few years ago, I was invited to speak at a Schools, Students and Teachers network (SSAT) Teaching Conference and presented ‘Modern Foreign Languages: A Blueprint for Success’ to other colleagues from a range of subject areas around the country.
