C. R. Kelchner grew up in a home that cultivated imagination. He played story-inspired games with his brother and sister, his parents often read books aloud, and he frequently explored the Bosque forest in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Kelchners were great fans of fantastical fiction, like the Narnia books by C. S. Lewis, The Lord of The Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien, and This Present Darkness by Frank E. Peretti. After receiving a bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in biblical studies from a Christian college in Tennessee, C. R. Kelchner began his first children’s fantasy book, Lady Glimmer and the Children of Doubt. In his mid-twenties, Kelchner packed his small car and moved to Alaska, where he got a job as a foster care worker. Surrounded by the majestic snow-capped mountains and countless birch trees, he completed a psychological drama, The Blue of Torches: Ignited. In his free time, Kelchner enjoys hiking, movie nights with friends, coffee shops, and stories about fascinating characters.
