I'm a retired pathologist with an interest in the Great Depression because it was a time when American values were tested. Over the years I've produced several documentaries about the depression era photographers who traveled the country as employees of the government, trying to capture the plight of our destitute citizens. These photos are available from the Library of Congress website as free digital images. My website verbatimmultimedia.com contains links to my documentaries. Through my years as a street photographer, I've learned to look closely at faces and see past the facade people want to project. I believe novel writing is a result of what I've learned. My current novel, Leaving Innocence, kicks off a three-part series about Max Bader, a sixteen-year-old piano prodigy who leaves the comfort of his New York life and walks the roads into the South looking for his father. In some ways his journey is like that of Huckleberry Finn, encountering all the good and bad in the people he meets. EMAIL:carletonthomasanderson @verbatimmultimedia.com
