For a long time, every relationship I had fell apart. Then it occurred to me that the relationships were not the problem. I was. That was the moment I finally understood how to stop getting it wrong.

Now, twenty-five years with my husband Roger, twenty-three of them married, I want to share what I learned. Because it works. People still ask how long we have been together as though the answer will be eight months.

I grew up in Hamburg and moved to the US in 2009 (Roger's fault). I never lost my German bluntness, and I point it now at the books that had been piling up in my head, uninvited, for years. They live where self-help meets real life. Practical, honest, and written on the conviction that useful does not have to mean boring.

Two Twins Make a King is out now. The Secret of the Three-Legged Table follows in October and The Favor Principle in December, both part of the Garawen: Better Together series. There are more. There are always more.

Recovering perfectionist, still a very efficient control freak (working on it, I swear). One hundred percent dog mom, recently involuntarily (lie.) promoted to cat tamer, enthusiastic but unexceptional cook. I name my kitchen appliances, which I am told is not normal, and I have made peace with that.

I am, possibly for the first time, exactly where I am supposed to be.
