The author grew up in the small town of Anson Texas and became fascinated with prehistoric men and fictional novels about the lives of men who lived in those prehistoric times. He read every novel published in those times with a prehistoric setting, but found the available stories limited. In 1966 he entered the U. S. Army as a Field Artillery officer and served his country in combat and in Europe. He married and had children. To entertain his young children he invented stories of prehistoric people, which, of course, included a heroine or hero that resembled one of his children. These stories became more complex and eventually led the author to right his first novel, "The Last Neanderthal Clan."
