Author and TV Talk Show Host Cheryl Wills is the author of a series of books about her 3X Great Grandfather Sandy Wills, an enslaved Tennessee man who enlisted in The United States Colored Troops during The American Civil War (1861-1865). The Emmy award winning journalist is a veteran news anchor for Spectrum News based in New York City. As the host of the weekly public affairs program, "In Focus with Cheryl Wills", she interviews national newsmakers and celebrities. The veteran journalist is also the author of "Isn't Her Grace Amazing! The Women Who Changed Gospel Music Forever" published by Harper Collins. On March 25, 2011, Cheryl made history as the first journalist invited to speak at the United Nations during its International Remembrance of Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade. She has also received awards from the Associated Press, The New York Press Club, The Newswomen's Club of New York. Cheryl enjoys teaching students of all ages about the heroic service of the 200,000 black soldier who served during The American Civil War. She is a proud graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
