David B Horne was born and raised on the west coast of Canada. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse (now part of PwC) in 1987. Later that year, he and his wife moved to Zürich, Switzerland where David continued his career. Both of their daughters were born in Zürich. He left Price Waterhouse in 1989 and joined his largest client, NCR Switzerland, as financial controller. In 1993, David and his family moved from Zürich to London, where he continued with NCR. During this time, AT&T acquired NCR, and in 1995 he transferred to AT&T Capital. In 1997, David joined the BBC in his first finance director role. Three years later, he joined BSMG Worldwide as CFO Europe, where he made his first business acquisitions, buying seven PR agencies in two years. He launched his consultancy business in 2002 and ran it for a year, before being appointed in 2003 as CFO of Huveaux plc, which was listed on London’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM). In three years, he raised over £60 million with Huveaux and bought seven more companies. He left in 2006 to become CFO of GoIndustry plc, which had just listed on AIM. There he raised over £40 million and acquired a global competitor. In 2010, he resigned from GoIndustry. At the end of 2010, David launched a wine business, Horne & Daughters, serving private clients and investing on Liv-ex, the London International Vintners Exchange. He also re-launched his consulting business, and now works exclusively with entrepreneurs implementing his FACE methodology. Over his career, David has bought or sold more than twenty companies. A colleague of David’s from the BBC describes him as an explorer of people, places and possibilities. He speaks fluent German, reasonable French and basic Italian. Having written this book, David knows he has at least two more books inside his head and he'll start researching one of them in the autumn of 2019. He lives in London with his wife, Kate.
