Dave, a Skokie Illinois native, and his cousin Steven Lome, co-authored "The $500 Cup of Coffee" with the goal of helping others achieve the financial success and freedom that everyone should enjoy. Dave who has a degree from University of Illinois (1992) in General Engineering (lots of math!), has spent the majority of his carrier as a mortgage broker. He also holds a real-estate broker license and has some experience in property rehab, construction, & management. In the course of helping clients finance their real-estate goals, Dave has reviewed over 2,000 personal financial statements, analyzed around 2,500 credit reports, and attended at least 1,500 real-estate transaction closings. Dave's passion for personal-finance was clear early in life, and at the age of 15, he began trading stocks and doing his own tax returns (like all teenagers?). Dave keenly understood the discipline of 'save now', have more to spend/invest later. In spite of all the inadequate (and sometimes damaging) advice from financial advisors and accountants, he managed to achieve his significant financial goals by the age of 35. Dave's frustration to find 'good' advice about personal-finance led him to conclude that managing your own money is often better than trusting someone else to do it. It does not take a degree in Finance to out-perform the experts - just a basic understanding and a little discipline. Dave and Steve hope you enjoy their book and your own financial success.
